As a CAD Designer you will work with close guidance and supervision on tasks for large and small projects in a team environment on a variety of Transportation infrastructure projects.
Your Key Responsibilities
Prepare plans from various ROW files, including ROI, civil roadway, irrigation and utility design files to create workable microstation files for Surveyors to produce appraisal maps
Perform QA/QC of client DGN lime work when appraisal maps are produced
File manipulation and preparation of as-builts for outgrant of easements, JUA, CCUAs
Attend meetings with clients
Research records to include basic title searches
Explain the program/project to affected parties
Conduct site inspections as needed
Perform and assist with coordinating Right of Way (ROW) activities
Take a proactive hands-on role in all types of transportation design projects.
Development and production of CAD drawings for a variety of engineering disciplines.
Ensure that all project requirements are met.
Production and checking of designs and associated reports prior to submission.
Liaison with other technical staff and engineers to ensure all work is completed to a high standard with a consistent approach.
Calculation of quantities and preparation of cost estimates.
Provide assistance to Project Engineers and Project Managers.
Comply with Stantec quality management, safety and environmental practices.
Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Strong understanding of how to read and interpret complex engineering drawings
Understanding of Right of Way (ROW) laws
Excellent organizational skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite
Proficiency in Microstation
A strong technical understanding of alignment and design, with the ability to complete conceptual plans, preliminary and detailed designs.
Preferably 5 years' experience in Microstation Inroads and CAD Civil 3D (preferred but not required).
Caltrans experience a plus.
Must have a good driving record and valid Driver's License.
Education and Experience
Technical degree/diploma/certificate or equivalent in related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of 5 years of experience.
Typical office environment working with computers at a desk for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
