Job Description


Job Summary:

Under the general direction of the Mfg. Engr. Manager and/or Mfg. Engr.; support & optimize Bossard’s VMI (Vendor Managed Inventory) program for the Camera / Core Assy groups.  The VMI consists of ~350 various COTS and custom parts used for all non inventory-based, assembly ‘consumables’ requirements, plus general factory operational support.

Responsibilities include:

  • Audit all FLIR ‘PRODUCT’ classifications per VMI item and update as required.

  • Verify and update EAU’s (Estimated Annual Usage) for all VMI Item’s per the current associated product forecast.

  • Perform a cost analysis by evaluating current marked-up VMI costs against open market pricing.

  • Review Bossard Slow/Fast moving report for all VMI items that are 150% demand against the std EAU.

  • Review all low demand/low EAU items and make recommendations for possible elimination from the VMI.

  • Clean-up the ‘Obsolete but Active’ consumable items that are no longer in the VMI system.

  • Make recommendations for elimination of Stock-Out bins, where a small pull to Floor Stock (large qty of a of a light item) can empty the bin prematurely, before it can be replenished.

  • Help complete a ‘Qty Per’ for each VMI items related to the assy’s they go into.  This will be used towards a new ‘SAP Consumable Demand System’ that will utilize product forecasts to drive EAU’s (real-time).

Detailed Description:

  • Review current As-Is demand for all VMI products and correct EAU and assigned program discrepancies.

  • Combine various existing Excel Spreadsheets into one master Spreadsheet that will be used for much of the analysis in the Job Summary.

  • Work with the Materials Manager on incorporation of the SAP Consumable Demand System.


  • Preferred candidate will be working towards a 2 YR College degree or beyond.

  • Proficient with the use of Computers –   MS Office Suite, Excel in particular

  • Preferred candidate will have familiarity with basic hardware used to assemble mechanical items (nuts, bolts, O-rings, adhesives, tapes, lubricants, connectors, etc).

  • Must be able to communicate clearly and able to read and write using the English language

  • US Citizenship or Permanent Resident Alien status required.
