The Network Infrastructure Group is looking for a dynamic individual who is knowledgeable about Network/IT analytics and visibility solutions/trends in the enterprise network management market. This Director level position will cover market research and consulting in the networking performance management segment as it relates on the ongoing network and digital transformation in the enterprise. Recent market developments in the Cloud and AI space have brought into focus the positive impact that network automation can have on Cloud and SaaS services, leveraging key ingredients like machine learning, as well as network visibility and analytics. In addition, explosion of apps being hosted on public cloud has brought the need for core-to-edge visibility, from a security as well as a performance optimization perspective. Domain knowledge of various network management and automation tools, as well as visibility and streaming telemetry solutions is a key requirement for this position.
Technology and Market Analysis: Serves as IDC's subject matter expert as it pertains to the use of Network analytics and visibility solutions and technologies to enhance user experience and business value via network automation. Knowledge of major NPM/NPB solutions and related market and technology trends is a pre-requisite for this position. A good understanding of SDN/SD-WAN in the enterprise domain is also a key requirement for this position, while knowledge of cloud applications/technologies will be a bonus.
Thought-leadership: Digital transformation and a rapidly changing competitive landscape is motivating enterprise IT and network managers to evolve faster than ever before, while embracing many of the learnings from cloud and network virtualization, including the need to continue to optimize SaaS/IaaS app consumption. Providing leadership thinking around these industry shifts, what these mean to operators and vendors, and substantiating with quantitative and qualitative analysis is a key requirement of this position.
Research and Consulting: Develops and/or customizes enterprise network management research and consulting projects to meet the specific needs of existing clients, including domain-specific market insights, surveys, white papers, webcasts, on-site strategy sessions, forecasts, videos or presentations. The successful candidate will be able to juggle multiple projects simultaneously and work independently to support a range of publishing, consulting, forecasting, market modeling, and thought leadership activities.
Domain Experience Requirements
Enterprise network management, analytics and visibility solutions that enhance user and application experience and business value
Knowledge of cloud-managed analytics, visibility and related software tools and platforms
Adoption of network virtualization and software technologies such as SDN/SD-WAN; including emerging trends such as the use of streaming telemetry
Digital and Network Transformation strategies and the transition to As-A-Service consumption models
Skills and Professional Background
Industry Knowledge on IT and Network Operations,
Strong analytical and writing skills
Good presentation skills and experience
Collaboration across IDC's related enterprise networking and telecom domain teams
Minimum 10-15 years industry experience across vendors and/or analyst and media firms
Location and Travel
The position is based in IDC's Framingham, MA Office, but working remotely is an option for a candidate with the right experience and credentials.
Requires 20% travel nationally/internationally.
