IDC's BuyerView Research group is looking to fill the role of Research Manager. Primary responsibilities will include:
  • Interacting with clients
  • Conducting market research
  • Writing research reports
  • Producing custom research (i.e. white papers, ROI studies, market assessments, etc.)
  • Delivering public speaking engagements and webcasts (i.e. speaking at industry conferences and customer events

Additional responsibilities may include helping with marketing activities, conducting business development, providing sales support, and acting effectively as a client advisor for industrial companies and technology suppliers.

The 4 primary skills required to be successful in this role include:
    1. Knowledge – A general understanding of and ability to research cloud, AI and security markets.
    2. Writing skills – Excellent writing skills. Ability to write research reports quickly and clearly, in a prescription fashion, offering business and technology advice to clients.
    3. Speaking skills – Strong speaking presence. Ability to handle client inquiries over the phone or in-person, deliver webcasts, and speak publicly at meetings or events.
    4. Self-motivated hard worker – Employee must have a strong work ethic, be self-motivated to be a leading thought leader in research domains and be collaborative to work with team members towards ground-breaking research.


    • A solid understanding of cloud technologies with a focus on AI and security, and broader information technology in general
    • 5-7+ years of related research work experience
    • A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Business, or related focus
    • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail in data generation and review
    • Ability to clearly deliver insights and report data analysis
    • Superior communication skills and the ability to speak publicly at events and/or webcasts required
    • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint are required.
    • Proven track record of multi-tasking, meeting deadlines and delivering projects on time/budget
    • Demonstrated ability in working under pressure with competing deadlines
    • Ability and interest in collaborating in a global environment
    • Extremely organized, with strong analytical skills
    • Travel (approximately 10-20%) will be required as needed
