We are currently looking for a Project Management Office Lead – FlytLINK Projects to join Thales in Melbourne, FL. The Project Management Office Lead - FlytLINK Projects reports to the IFE PMO Vice President providing a centralized coordinating PMO body within the framework of Chorus 2.0.  The PMO Lead provides dedicated PMO support  to ‘critical projects’ in all aspects of a program management office to enable compliant and efficient use of processes, tools, application of templates, variances analysis & corrective action, risk mitigations plans, reporting, establishment of key performance indicators for project health assessment and continuous improvement.  The assigned PMO Lead will serve as a critical aid to Program Management; ensuring program deliverables are complete, accurate, and timely.

The PMO lead is seconded to program IPT and has a matrix reporting line to the program manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, deploy and improve project management methodology (governance, processes and related tools, competencies and training) taking into account Chorus 2.0 Project Management Process

  • Supports program managers by providing accurate and validated financial, schedule and risk data, including a first level analysis (variances, root cause, needed mitigation / recovery actions, etc.)

  • Help program manager and management to anticipate and plan accordingly needed improvement plans to address risks, obstacles, underperforming KPI’s, and other set-backs.

  • Work hand in hand with Finance team to insure consistency of  financial reporting, its accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of data

  • Based on the strategic needs of the project, structure technical expertise on Project Management methods, tools, templates, processes and ensure that any necessary training and coaching is performed for project teams

  • Contribute and coach to structuring, scheduling, estimating, risk and opportunity management, executing and reporting within assigned project/program/portfolio

  • Coordinate the actions of the Project Management Office covering the different expertise and disciplines within the PMO

  • Assist in the coordination, generation, and quality of data in project reviews, i.e., IPR, CPR, Deep Dives, QCPR’s. etc. that is accurate and timely to support effective decision making.  Drive to instill an action oriented review.

  • Manage the Monitoring and control of the program’s performance through the establishment of an Obeya control room or similar process for program performance management

  • Support the generation, completeness, timeliness, and quality of Bids and Change Orders (PCO/ICO) as well as supporting any associated reviews to process changes.

  • Support transformational/continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Assist the PM maintain Customer Satisfaction activities/tasks, i.e., Complaints, Presentation, Reviews, Surveys, Action Items, etc.

  • Identify and provide for any needed training, mentoring necessary to encourage/enforce the use of PM processes/practices.

  • Assist the PM and Primavera Team manage project milestones, resources and ETCs in Primavera.  This includes supporting the development of a financial package so that a project financial analysis can be performed by the PM in support of an IPR, CPR and/or Deep Dive. 

  • Assist the PM manage Risk & Opportunities, Identify, analyze and prepare risk mitigation actions, and action item tracking.

  • Works with Program Management and Finance to help manage and consolidate program/project financials and associated information from various tools/applications (SAP, Primavera, etc.), e.g., contract/billing plans, shipset information, PMBI and workload data.

  • Understands all components of project/portfolio financials i.e., P&L and able to identify data disconnects/variances and communicate them to the PM for his/her analysis.

  • Works with Sales/Bids, Program/Project Managers and Finance to help manage and input information into various tools/applications (SAP, Primavera, etc.), e.g., Milestones, Contract/Billing Plans, Shipset information, Hardware Demand, ETCs, Workload, etc. 

Skills and Experience:

  • Undergraduate or Master’s degree and over 7 years of program management experience; or equivalent combination.

  • Able to proficiently operate MS Office applications, i.e., Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Visio.

  • Familiarity with SAP, Primavera, Microsoft Project tools.

  • Possesses proficient written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from various stakeholders

  • Able to build and establish foundation for employee commitment to change

  • Prior Program Management and/or program control leadership

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PMI/PMP, IPMA or equivalent certification, and experience with commercial aircraft, airline operations and networked computer systems including multi-media entertainment

  • Familiarity with SAP, Primavera, Version One, Power BI, PMBI, and JIRA a plus.

  • Project Management, Bid, PCO, ICO, and/or Finance background/experience desired.

  • Possesses a general understanding of Chorus 2.0, 5.1 Manage Bid and 5.2 Manage Project a plus
