Maintains (disassembly, cleaning, assembly, and functional checks) all non-disposable equipment including:
medical gas blenders
medical gas flow meters and regulators
manometers and gauges
air compressors and generators
customized tracheostomy cannulaes
pulmonary function equipment (circuits and mouthpieces)
Performs all disinfection and sterilization procedures in accordance with the Respiratory Care Department’s Infection Control Policy and Non-Disposable Equipment Policy.
Assists in the preventive maintenance programs for all non-disposable equipment by documenting and performing operational checks and maintaining records.
Maintains inventory control of the department’s non-disposable equipment.
Maintains inventory control of all disposable equipment and supplies; provides supply projections by anticipating needs, and orders supplies as needed.
Delivers supplies and equipment to patient care areas as needed and/or scheduled
Maintains inventory control, records, and contract releases for all rental equipment.
Prepares ventilator circuits and equipment setups for scheduled equipment changes and as needed.
Maintains an adequate supply of medical gas cylinders at all times.
Assists in patient discharge education by training patient care providers in the assembly and cleaning of customized tracheostomy cannulaes.
Participates in departmental and hospital programs for Quality Assessment and Improvement and works with departments/services to improve the care provided.
Provides age and developmental appropriate care to infants, children, adolescents, and adults.
Performs other duties as assigned.
High school diploma required.
Minimum six (6) months experience in Respiratory Care, or equivalent, preferred. Minimum six (6) months academic experience in electronics/mechanics, or equivalent, is preferred.
Certification in electronics and/or mechanics preferred.
