JOB DESCRIPTION Provides psychosocial support services to facilitate patient and family adjustment to illness. Social worker shall be knowledgeable about the psychosocial impact of disease on individuals and families as it relates to their age, stage of development, culture, physical and psychosocial competence. Capabilities include individual and group counseling, case management and advocacy services and collaboration with the health care team. Also addresses financial, emotional, and environmental factors as they relate to patient health and discharge planning needs. This includes, but is not limited to, Advance Directive issues, patient/family advocacy and coordination of community resources, while maintaining professional social work standards.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work required
Current Social Work professional licensure in the state of Iowa required
One to three years professional social work experience required. Previous experience in oncology preferred
Previous demonstrated competencies or training experiences in assessment and counseling in a medical setting is preferred
Special Skills and Competencies:
Computer skills include Word, Excel, Cerner Power Chart
Ability to effectively communicate, establishes professional relationships, and work effectively as a team member
Demonstrated ability to operate in a collaborative, shared leadership environment
Able to set and organize own work priorities and adapt to change
High degree of initiative and judgment
Ability to effectively communicate and maintain professional relationships with wide variety of individuals
