Job summary
The Monterey Bay Aquarium's Conservation and Science Division (C&S) is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to conduct research in support of the Aquarium's goal to combat climate change impacts on ocean health, and contribute to the research and analysis needs of the Ocean Conservation Policy program.
Core Responsibilities
Methodology:
With the support of an MBA mentor, the intern will:
Conduct a scientific literature review cataloging impacts of climate change on species in our collection.
Perform research and analysis of state, federal and international ocean policy issues to advance the Aquarium's ocean conservation goals.
Produce briefing memos, talking points, informational folders, and similar materials.
Provide additional support for Conservation and Science activities as needed.
Deliverables:
The results of the climate change literature review will be compiled in a final report.
The intern will prepare and present PowerPoint or Poster to MBA staff on their research results at the end of the internship assignment.
Absolutely Required Skills / Knowledge / Ability / Experience or Education
At least 18 years of age
Must be pursuing graduate studies in STEM fields or Environmental Science, Public Policy, International Affairs or Communications
Current graduate enrollment status at an accredited college or university.
Must submit student portfolio of relevant demonstrated work
Must provide resume and a minimum of 2 letters of recommendation from college/university professors or faculty staff.
Minimum cumulative grade point average
Must submit official transcript with STEM-approved courses.
3.0/4.0 G.P.A. for graduate students

Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
Research, writing, academic literature and organizational skills
Ability to work independently and in team settings
Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple tasks
Interpersonal skills and proven ability to work effectively with colleagues
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
Proficiency with Google Suite applications: Docs, Sheets and Slides
