Job Description Summary
Support the Lamb Weston Ag Services team with several projects related to agronomy. A skilled mentor with be assigned to the intern for the duration of the internship. This mentor will provide training and complete weekly reviews to assess progress and answer questions. The paid internship will last 10-12 weeks in the summer of 2020; actual dates may vary depending on the student's academic calendar. Individual intern projects will be assigned and a final presentation made at the conclusion of the program. Interns will attend organized social events throughout the summer and a relocation stipend is available to those who qualify.

Job Description
  • Spend time with the raw potato grading crew learning potato grading

  • Hands on experience in at least one area of the Agriculture Services Organization: Agronomy, Partner Grower - Farming, and Procurement:
  • Agronomy: Understanding the science behind plant physiology and how the environment affects quality and yield- New variety test plots, tissue sampling, evaluation of on-farm research
  • Partner Grower - Farming: Understanding the budgetary process and learning the cultural practices that will affect quality and yield - Crop management, pest & fertilizer applications, soil moisture management, chemigation & fumigation
  • Procurement/Raw Utilization: Understanding the quality attributes and how they affect plant efficiencies and raw product costs. Understanding the fundamentals of storing potatoes and optimizing raw utilization


    Job Qualifications
    • Junior/Senior, Master's or PhD standing student in an accredited college program pursuing a degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Crop Science, or related field
    • Valid U.S. driver's license and ability to meet the Lamb Weston Authorized Driver standards
    • Self-starter with strong results orientation.
    • Excellent verbal and oral communication skills
    • Ability and willingness to work independently
    • Strong analytical skills.
    • Strong computer competency and experience using a tablet and/or iPhone
    • Experience with MS suite of products desirable
