The Oncology Department in Northwest Wisconsin is seeking a Nurse Supervisor to join its team. This role oversees the clinical operations for all nursing clinical support activities in the department which includes medical oncology clinic and chemotherapy infusion clinic. This is a regional position supporting Eau Claire, Menomonie and Barron.

Position description

The Oncology Department Nurse Supervisor is responsible for supervision of all nursing and unit-based personnel on designated shift and the provision of a safe, caring environment for patient/family and staff which fosters professional nursing practice, shared decision-making, interdisciplinary teamwork and collaboration resulting in positive patient and staff outcomes. S/he assists the Oncology Department Nurse Manager in planning, developing, implementing, evaluating and monitoring policies and procedures, budgets and the allocation of resources, continuous quality improvement initiatives, educational programs and shared governance/shared leadership councils to achieve departmental and organizational goals and objectives. Provides nursing care as needed for age-specific patient population. May have some budgetary responsibility to provide assistance to the Nurse Manager. Oversees productivity and day to day operations. The individual may also have clinical responsibilities (i.e., patient assignments) in some smaller work units. The Nurse supervisor will act as a role model for the team through consistent demonstration of Mayo Clinic values.


Graduate of an accredited baccalaureate degree program. Applicants for Director, Manager, and Supervisor roles must have baccalaureate in nursing to be eligible to apply. A minimum of two years of clinical experience is also required.

Additional qualifications

Management experience preferred. Strong time-management and organizational skills, the ability to effectively navigate in in an electronic medical record, the ability to support and ensure safe and quality patient care, the ability to collaborate professionally with different departments, peers, administrators and physicians, have a general understanding of charge capture reconciliation, and the ability to take the lead in patient care delivery and plan strategically.

License or certification

Current state RN license or current license deemed acceptable by the State Board of Nursing in which the RN practices. Maintains current Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers from one of the following programs: American Heart Association or American Red Cross. Additional specialty certification/training as required by the work area.

Compensation Detail

Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.  The minimum salary every 2 weeks is approx $2,889.60, based on a full-time position.
