This position is responsible for the research, problem-solving & timely filing of major retail Home Center AR customer accounts for the Lawn & Garden division of Oldcastle Architectural Products. The position is primarily responsible for oversight, research and timely resolution of open balances.
Job Description Summary
Maintain oversight & ensure timely payments are received based on vendor terms for Home Center receivable accounts
Through data analysis & where appropriate by contacting plant & regional personnel, clarify and confirm outstanding balances
With an eye for trends & anomalies, determine & file valid shortage claims & dispute vendor payment deductions using Home Center portals
Document and communicate trending issues to the regional team for resolution and improved customer satisfaction
Support month-end closing process by reviewing & reporting using online detail that reflects account progress
Responsible for the integrity of account balances
Maintain supporting documentation and/or electronic files for all claims, credits & any other related documents
Assist VP Finance and Controller with miscellaneous duties as needed
Associate’s degree in a related business discipline or minimum of 2 years of proven success in job-related experience. A combination of education & experience considered
Demonstrated ability to communicate in a manner that reflects appropriate command of professional levels of verbal & written communication
Skilled and accurate with data entry, data research, data analysis & effective problem solving
Proven record as strong team player able to quickly and effectively build professional relationships, trust and credibility
Ability to work in an independent, self-directed manner
Required Technical Proficiency
General PC navigation skills & track record of effectiveness with using multiple screens simultaneously
Knowledge & experience with accounting software (Experience working with Lawson preferred)
Ability to learn and understand cloud-based client access portals
Internet-based software programs, specific emphasis on:
MS Office Applications
High Level of proficiency with the use of Excel including advanced formulas and reporting
Previous experience in an accounting role supporting retail Home Center accounts desirable but not required
On-site office presence required
Ability to perform sedentary work, occasional walking, standing, squatting, and bending required
Ability to lift up to 10 lbs. and carry small objects, and occasionally lift up to 25 lbs.
Prolonged sitting, repetitive use of fingers and hands for typing
Available to work overtime as necessary
Required to work under deadlines and stressful, high work volume conditions
