Purpose of Role:

With the upcoming move of the current RCR (Rolla, MO) Plant Director to another role in Royal Canin VCO, we have an exciting vacancy at our Royal Canin plant in Rolla, MO.  The RCR plant has a crucial role in the North American supply network, which consists of three other plants in the USA and one in Canada. The Royal Canin business in the US is by far the single biggest market for Royal Canin globally, and is growing above 10% for several years in a row. RCR supplies the majority of the dry volume and is therefore key to Royal Canin’s growth journey ahead.  The RCR Plant Director role is an outstanding opportunity for a high caliber leader who aims to progress within the Mars organization.


Principal Accountabilities:

  • Associate Safety & Asset Conservation:

    • Provide leadership to ensure that the site has a world class safety culture and that all site associates are properly trained and engaged in safety. 

  • Quality & Food Safety:

    • Be the champion of quality and food safety. Ensure that all Mars, national, state and local environmental compliance requirements are met or exceeded.

  • Customer Service:

    • Creating a customer-focused mindset within the site.

  • Cost Competitiveness:

    • Develop and implement site-based strategies and initiatives which support business objectives and strategies including leading network optimization, asset optimization, plant staffing models and application of global best practices and standards.

    • Deliver or exceed agreed business performance metrics in the areas of safety, quality, cost, customer service, inventory etc.

  • Associate Engagement and Developing Talent:

    • Develop a robust talent pipeline within the site and ensure associates understand how to develop their career within Mars.

    • Build a 5 Principles centric Mars culture at the site via high levels of associate engagement, a passion for pets, and a superior experience for our customers.

    • Inspire and engage direct reports to role model high performance team behaviors.  Create a positive work environment in the face of change.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of seven to ten (7-10) years of broad and varied supply experience including a demonstrated technical understanding of manufacturing.

  • Sound experiences in big people leadership roles (ex. Shift Manager or Production Manager) in a continuous operation.

  • Working knowledge of other departments (HR, Finance, Commercial, R&D, etc.) and their relationship to manufacturing.

  • A thorough knowledge of good personnel practices and a proven track record in effective human relations.

  • Multi-plant, multi-unit and/or multi-discipline experience.

  • Knowledge of applicable governmental regulations.

  • A minimum of an undergraduate degree with a technical/operational focus or the equivalent in experience.

  • High level of analytical thinking and communication skills.

  • Ability to travel 10% domestically.

  • Recognition of different perspectives and ability to deal with all level of the organization.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Mars Inc. culture and objectives.

  • An advanced degree.
