Job Description:

The VP FP&A provides financial and strategic leadership and advice as the senior FP&A leader for the McKesson Medical-Surgical (MMS) business unit (BU). This role coordinates all planning, forecasting, reporting, and variance analysis across MMS’ multiple finance groups in support of the BU’s $8+ billion revenue business. Additionally, the role manages the BU’s Strategic Finance function, which is responsible for such areas as M&A financial support, Real Estate financial analysis, and strategic initiative financial management.  Finally, the role is also responsible for leading the Special Projects function, which includes overall management of Financial Integrations, Finance Transformation efforts, and general Project Management for MMS Finance.

The VP FP&A leads a team of up to 13 individuals and is the senior point of contact for all financial matters for the MMS Executive Leadership Team (ELT) and Corporate finance teams, including Corporate FP&A and Investor Relations.

Key Responsibilities:

Overall financial leadership and financial management for MMS, including forecasting, reporting, and presentation building (e.g. monthly results and quarterly business reviews. 30%

Lead in the development of the Annual Operating Plan and Three Year Long Range Plan (LRP). 25%

Manage and develop a team of approximately 13. 10%

Lead and facilitate interaction and support with various Corporate functions including Corporate FP&A, Investor Relations, and Financial Reporting. 10%

Responsible for overall Project Management function of Special Projects, including IMO (Integration Management Office) and Transformation work. 10%

Lead Strategic Finance function at MMS which includes M&A analysis and operating model development, strategic initiative support, Real Estate finance, and portfolio analysis (e.g. EVA analysis across segments). 10%

Partner with Accounting to ensure Month-end close & accounting for all areas of the business. 5%

Minimum Job Qualifications:

Education/Training – Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting or equivalent work experience required; MBA preferred

Business Experience –


  • 15+ years of progressive Finance experience required

  • Minimum of 10+ years supervisory experience required

  • Ability to effectively partner and influence Executive-level Leaders across the organization

  • Firm grasp of corporate finance concepts, practices, and tools

  • Experience with managing complex, integrated departments across enterprise

  • Knowledgeable of corporate finance systems

  • Highly experienced at handling sensitive issues and situations

  • Experience with mergers and acquisitions preferred

Specialized Knowledge/Skills – 

  • Superiority in corporate finance concepts and “best in class” methods

  • Excellent communication and presentation capabilities, both written and spoken

  • Collaboration, influencing, and project management

  • Strong grasp of optimal financial reporting and appropriate use of cost center and general ledger management
