Current Need
McKesson is hiring a Project Manager, BioMed and Technology Solutions in our Richmond, VA office to support the Vice President, BioMed and Technology Solutions.  The Project Manager will play a key role in the integration of the Biomedical service business.  This role will also be an integral part of the process to evaluate growth opportunities and scale the BioMed business (including the technology solutions OneTrack and VerbalCare) across McKesson.

The Project Manager will be responsible for working cross functionally to lead large projects for all aspects of the development/implementation of assigned projects and processes involving department or cross-functional teams that drive business value for the organization. 

This person must be highly organized, able to work on process development and implementation, have project management, and able to lead change. This person must also be able to communicate with a broad range of constituents.  The position will be charged with not only creating detailed project plans but also making recommendations/taking action to direct the analysis and resolving issues. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Plans and conducts project meetings, taking full responsibility for project deliverables and outcomes. 

  • Monitors the project from end-to-end, adjusting and interfacing with project sponsor and stakeholders as applicable.

  • Develops detailed project plans, schedules, regular status reports for leadership. and executes the detailed plan for project implementation.

  • Assesses project risks and issues of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of identifiable factors.

  • Facilitates discussion about critical barriers, breaks down into controllable action items with assigned ownership to reach resolutions.  

  • Gains cooperation of others, conducts presentations of project information concerning specific project initiatives/improvements, etc. that keeps the project on track.

  • Communicates cross-functionally to manage and sustain change initiatives.

General Job Family Information/Position Description

  • Responsible for all aspects of the development/implementation of projects and programs involving department or cross-functional teams focused on the delivery of a product or program from the design process through a finished state for internal/external customers. 

  • Provides a single point of contact for projects. 

  • Takes projects from original concept through final implementation. 

  • Interfaces with all areas affected by the project which may include customers, client services and various departments (e.g. marketing, computer services etc.). 

  • Defines project scope and objectives. 

  • Oversees/coordinates all aspects of project and serves as project manager between clients, line management and internal and external resources. 

  • Plans and directs schedules as well as project budgets. 

  • Monitors the product/program/project from initiation through delivery, interfacing with customer on all matters. 

  • Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals. 

  • Develops detailed work plans, schedules, project estimates, resource plans, budgets, and status reports. 

  • Conducts project meetings and is responsible for project deliverables. Manages the integration of vendor tasks, and tracks and reviews vendor deliverables. 

  • May provide project management guidance to project team. 

  • Recommends/takes action to direct the analysis of and solution to problems.

Minimum Requirements

  • 8+ years’ experience in designing, building, and implementing business solutions.

  • Significant experience in project management.

Critical Skills

  • Strong and independent communicator- including building out presentations, communicating with executives, and building out communication plans for the HS Team (i.e. town halls, etc.), with stakeholders  

  • Experience planning/directing business activities (i.e. planning for Health System (HS) Team Meetings, etc.)

  • Exceptional influential skills, across multiple levels (i.e. Executive Leadership and the team members that are undertaking the work on behalf of Health Systems Leaders)

  • Ability to understand what’s critical for Health System Leader(s) to weigh in on/be apprised of

  • Ability to speak on HS Leader’s behalf in key meetings, with executives, in the Richmond office, with back office stakeholders, making decisions on program items

  • Extensive experience with change management

  • Ability and experience driving Programs with multiple projects

  • Ability and experience prioritizing across multiple initiatives


  • 4-year degree in related field or equivalent experience
