DEVELOPMENT OPERATIONS ENGINEER, SENIOR


ELECTRONIC PAYMENT EXCHANGE (EPX) -- TEMPE AZ


 


The primary focus of the Senior Development Operations Engineer (Sr. DevOps Engineer) is to understand the Software Development Lifecycle and have the outright understanding of various automation tools for developing digital pipelines (CI/ CD pipelines). The Sr DevOps Engineer works with developers and the IT staff to oversee the code releases. They are either developers who get interested in deployment and network operations or system administrators who have a passion for scripting and coding and move into the development side where they can improve the planning of test and deployment.


 


What else you'll be doing:



  • Manage automation of application deployment

  • Familiar with servers, network infrastructure, and databases for development and deployment

  • Responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation and maintenance of services and system software and related infrastructure

  • Ensure systems, operating systems, software systems and related procedures adhere to organizational values

  • Ensure a reliable, secured and optimized systems environment

  • Install new and/or rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements

  • Implement integrations requested by developers

  • Deploy updates and fixes

  • Investigate and resolve technical issues and provide escalated technical support

  • Build tools to reduce the occurrences of errors and improve the customer experience

  • Develop software to integrate with internal back-end systems

  • Perform root cause analysis for production errors

  • Develop scripts to automate visualization

  • Design procedures for system troubleshooting and maintenance

  • Additional projects as assigned by management

 


What we need from you:



  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical, engineering or related field

  • 5+ years of Application Automation experience

  • 2+ years’ experience maintaining Linux, Ubuntu and/or Red Hat

  • Proficient in developing Continuous Integration/ Delivery pipelines

  • Good hands-on knowledge of Source Code Management (Version Control System) tools like Git

  • Hands-on knowledge of software containerization platforms like Docker and container orchestration tools like Kubernetes

  • Experience with systems monitoring software and systems

  • Experience with automation/ integration tools like Jenkins

  • Knowledge of major cloud service providers, like AWS

  • Proficient in scripting languages such as python, bash, perl, powershell 

  • Experienced with both Windows and Linux architectures, Ubuntu/CentOS

  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as in a team environment

  • Effective time management and organizational skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple and changing priorities with attention to detail

  • Ability to document Root Cause Analysis and ongoing system documentation

  • Well-developed technical and analytical skills to support and troubleshoot complex issues in an enterprise environment

  • Understanding of common backup and restore procedures
