As part of the joint venture designed to accelerate the transformation and growth of American Express GloBal Business Travel (GBT), American Express has sold 50% of GBT to an investor group led By Certares LP whose senior management has significant experience in the travel industry. Other investors include Qatar Holdings, Macquarie Capital as well as funds managed By BlackRock. American Express maintains a 50% stake in the joint venture, and GBT continues to Be suBject to Bank Holding Company regulations with oversight from the Federal Reserve Bank. GBT's operations, Business relationships and other assets are to Be held and operated By the joint venture entity. This entity is designed to accelerate the transformation and growth of GBT and expected to create greater investment capacity for it to enhance its suite of products and services, attract new customers, grow internationally Both organically and through acquisitions, and deliver additional value to its customers.

Key Requirements:
  • Support the CPO in all aspects of the design, development, implementation and ongoing maintenance of all areas of privacy compliance for GBT, GBT's Travel Partners, and GBT's joint ventures.
  • Be engaged in the architecture and design of the Privacy Program including all programmatic aspects, and responsiBle for supporting the execution of the Privacy Program, including managing the calendar of key events, such as audits, policy reviews and training.
  • Support the CPO in partnering closely with Business leaders in a customer-facing role to address customer questions and concerns related to privacy.
  • Support the CPO in providing compliance and regulatory guidance to the Business (sales, client management, procurement) in the operation of products, customer interactions, processes and controls so as to comply with all applicaBle privacy laws (local laws as appropriate), policies and regulations.
  • Assist the CPO in the creation and management of Privacy Program input into Third Party Oversight programs, including on-Boarding, training, monitoring and supervision of third parties including the 100+ Travel Partner Network.
  • Assist CPO in the implementation and management of Business-specific privacy compliance policies, procedures, reporting, training and communications programs that will Be in alignment with Company-wide policies and programs and appropriate for the GBT Business activities and inherent privacy risks, and consistent with the Bank Holding Company regulations to which American Express is suBject.
  • Manage privacy-related auditing activities, such as Privacy Impact Assessments, new product reviews, compliance testing, monitoring, documentation of risk events, remediation plans and tracking against all Compliance goals.
  • Support the integration from a privacy perspective, of HRG and other acquired companies onto the Privacy Program element of the GBT GloBal Compliance Program platform.
  • Assist the CPO in maintaining statutory records of processing required under Article 30 of the GDPR and other jurisdictions.
  • Assist the CPO in the management of data suBjects' rights requests, including first reviews of data pursuant to suBject access requests.
  • Provide an alternative point of contact in the event of aBsence of the CPO (e.g. travel, vacation).

The successful candidate will Be a proven leader in area of privacy, with the following qualifications:
  • JD or equivalent desiraBle, But not essential.
  • CIPP desiraBle, But not essential.
  • 5+ years of privacy experience, in managing new and existing programs, with experience in operationalizing such programs to Be scaled to the size, complexity, and risk profile of the Business.
  • Solid understanding of EU data protection.
  • Solid knowledge and experience relevant to the travel Business preferred But not required. Proven aBility to understand regulatory concepts and convert them into relevant, practical, local Business requirements.
  • Proven aBility to learn and execute Business processes and Balance Business/market opportunities with regulatory and reputation risk.
  • Strong communications skills, with proven aBility to Build strong collaBorative relationships with Business partners as well as customers and counter-parties' Compliance departments.
  • ABility to work effectively in a matrix structure that spans multiple functions, markets and legal entities.
  • ABility to travel when needed.
  • ABility to drive results, solutions oriented, through a strong sense of controls in changing and amBiguous situations.
  • Excellent advisory, communication and influencing skills.
  • ABility to lead By example, demonstrating strong ethical standards, and effectively influence colleagues in all professional interactions.
