We have a challenging opportunity for a Customer Service Representative I - Imports based out of our Spring Field Gardens NY location


Job Summary:

The Import Customer Service Representative is responsible for building and maintaining a professional relationship with international and domestic customers. The qualified candidate will be responsible for receiving and processing information and files from Brink's international affiliates relating to import shipments. In addition, they will be responsible for communicating this information to customs brokers and coordinating delivery with Brink's Incorporated, and domestic operations.



Key Responsibilities:

Respond to incoming communications from internal and external customers and where necessary resolve and escalate issues as needed.

Provide information and quote prices for all services

Communicate, and coordinate all customs clearance and transportation arrangements for commodity/customer moves including routing, delivery, booking, and other transportation logistics

Respond to inquiries regarding status of shipments in transit; follow through on trace request as necessary; provide proof of delivery as requested.

Prepare customs entries and follow-up with the clearance process on all entries prepared through partnership with internal and external partners.

Scan, file, copy, and assemble documents including: bills of lading, dock receipts, licenses, and consulate documents.

Calculate duties or tariffs to be paid on merchandise

Review rates, trace product movement, file entries with Customs; provide clarification and valuation of merchandise

Process post-entry work including ruling requests, CF 28's, refunds, protests, and drawbacks

Review and assess accuracy, verify country of origin/export, IOR, terms of sale and value to ensure that federal regulation requirements are achieved

Prepare nightly recap of incoming shipments to JFK & 580 Operations and make daily I.S.C payments online for all incoming MAWB.

Send payment receipt, MAWB, and Delivery order to dispatch / operations for pickups daily

Process inbound/outbound shipments in the Free Trade Zone

Stay up-to-date on all customs changes

Document all calls in ticketing and tracking systems

Research customer claims ensuring the highest level of customer service on every call and ensure that all service complaints are handled diplomatically, channeling pertinent information to customer service manager.

Ensure all transportation arrangements are made with full consideration of security implications, according to the BGS Procedures and within the General security regulations (GSR).





Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum of 3 years of experience in Customer Service in an Import or Freight Forwarding capacity

Minimum of 3 years of experience using MS Office and Windows applications including a proficiency in Excel.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in freight forwarding/transportation or related field.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Excellent interpersonal and analytical skills as well as working collaboratively with others.

Working knowledge of Import/Customs logistics, armored transportation, other related industry.

Good basic math skills.
