DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

The WGBH Educational Foundation is a vibrant public media powerhouse that enriches people’s lives through programs and services that educate, inspire, and entertain – fostering citizenship and culture, the joy of learning, and the power of diverse perspectives. The Development Division is responsible for raising funds from individuals and institutions and includes five areas of focus, including: Major Gifts, Annual Giving, Gift Planning & Endowment, Foundation Development, and Board Relations.  It plays a vital role in helping to finance broadcast, video, digital, and audio programs, including some of the premier and most celebrated dramas, investigative journalism, innovative documentaries and podcasts, and other local and national programming in the public media system.

This is a momentous, transformative period for WGBH, an organization working toward the completion of a $175 million capital campaign (The Campaign for WGBH – Leadership in the Digital Century), its largest to date, in a profoundly changing public media industry.

JOB OVERVIEW

Reporting to and working closely with the Associate Director of Development Operations (AD), the Development Assistant (DA) provides administrative and data management support to the Development Division. The operations team provides a critical function to the entire division, producing critical donor reports and data analysis which are shared with executive leadership, senior managers, board members—as well as front line fundraisers. Responsibilities include support for the WGBH’s patron program, the Ralph Lowell Society (RLS), which raises over $5 million annually, including gift processing, report management, and the execution of email communications. The DA will also support the Events team with tracking and maintaining data in a CRM system (NGO Connect, a Salesforce tool), and manages the design and execution of e-invitations and other follow-up communications. Other duties include assisting with process development and documentation, staff on-boarding training, and other data hygiene projects as assigned. WGBH is seeking a highly skilled, detail oriented individual who is comfortable working with sensitive data and considers themselves an effective problem solver. This is an excellent opportunity to gain strong operational fundraising experience while working in a positive, creative, professional, and collegial atmosphere.

RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Provide operational support to the major annual fund, the Ralph Lowell Society. Execute gift processing, draft and distribute annual fund pledge reminders, produce standing reports such as the Daily Gift Report, Weekly RLS Revenue Dashboard and ad hoc canned reports in NGO Connect.

  • Execute all e-communications for RLS and other divisional events. Work with corresponding teams execute all e-communications in Pardot e-marketing platform. For the RLS team, this includes monthly e-newsletters, quarterly e-solicitations and other misc. email updates. For the events team, this includes e-invitations, reminders and post-event follow up communications for all departmental events.

  • Assist in project management of large report requests and execution of NGO Connect reporting needs


  • Assist with the development of systems trainings and process documentation


  • Maintain data integrity and perform data hygiene projects as needed


  • Provide operational support to the Events team, creating and maintaining tracking reports in NGO Connect


  • Provide end user support to divisional staff on all systems ​


SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Candidate should have 1+ years of experience in a professional setting, preferably in the nonprofit sector. Qualified candidates should have excellent spreadsheet and statistical skills, be highly computer literate, and should have experience working with relational databases. Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and Filemaker Pro applications required. Experience with online Constituent Relationship Management (CRM) tools preferred, and experience with Salesforce a plus.
