Position Summary

  • Oversee the safe, efficient and productive operation of the D&B crew. Position is under the direct supervision of the Dragline/D&B Team Leaders.

  • Directly supervise and mentor technicians on the assigned crew and within the production departments when appropriate

  • Ensure career and skill development of technicians while meeting safety, production, and environmental targets through behaviors guided by the Peabody Leadership Pillars

Position Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Ability and commitment to work safely and encourage safe behaviors in others

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in a surface mine or Mining/Civil Engineering or related degree with a minimum of three (3) years of post-graduate experience in a surface mine or related environment

  • Knowledge of heavy equipment operation: shovels, RTD, blades, dozers, drills & haul trucks

  • Knowledge of dragline/dozer systems is preferred

  • Ability to abide by and ensure compliance with all company rules and guidelines and all applicable state and federal laws

  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems and situations arising in open pit mining operations

  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate work with other departments

  • Demonstrate good computer skills

  • Possess outstanding verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends and overtime as needed

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Must have or be willing to obtain Mine Foreman’s Certification

  • Must have or be willing to obtain a WY Blasting License

  • Supervision or step up supervision experience in a mining or related environment

  • Drilling and blasting experience

  • Formal education in blasting

  • Understanding of drill patterns and drill hole depths policy and procedure

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works:

  • In outside weather conditions

  • Near moving mechanical parts

  • May be exposed to dusty, wet and/or humid conditions and vibration

  • Occasionally works at heights and may be occasionally exposed to fumes, airborne particles or caustic chemicals, and risks of electrical shock

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud
