Our team of interdisciplinary code professionals work collaboratively to assure designs comply with all requirements of the international codes. Our history with local and regional jurisdictions and tribal governments includes plan review, field inspection, and interim building official.
Stantec's Tucson office is looking for a Commercial Building Inspector who is responsible for approving simple tenant improvements to complex commercial construction projects based on applicable codes, ordinances, and administrative directives which are enforced by our jurisdictional clients.
Your Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities include: reading, interpreting, and enforcing approved plans and specifications; working directly with developers, contractors, and owners to identify, document, and assist in resolving issues to gain compliance in all international codes; understanding construction methods and product applications; evaluating compliance based upon the specific conditions of each construction project, including the scope of work to be performed, nature of work, age of existing building, codes applicable during the original construction, and present code requirements; and maintaining field result paperwork and files.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Education and Experience
High School diploma plus a minimum five (5) years of experience inspecting from approved plans, schedules, and other data to ensure proposed construction conforms to building, plumbing, mechanical, and electrical codes, ordinance, and related regulations. Other combinations of experience and education meeting the minimum requirements may be substituted. Must possess ICC Building Inspector certification and at least one other ICC inspection certification in mechanical, plumbing, or electrical.
Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
