A Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) with certification as a Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) or Registered Vascular Technician (RVT) performs diagnostic and special procedure ultrasonography in accordance with established policies and procedures including OBGYN and Vascular exams. Incumbents with certification as an RVS or RVT are able to perform vascular sonographic exams and/or oversee the performance of exams by non-certified sonographers at the same location.
Education: Completion of an accredited diagnostic medical sonographic program and ARDMS certified. Must be RVT (awarded by ARDMS )/RVS (awarded by CCI) certified. RVT or RVT eligible with certification within one year of employment. CEU documentation required for certification must be provided. BLS/CPR required.
Skills and experience: 3-5 years' experience working as an Ultrasonographer required. Pediatric experience preferred.
Able to independently perform tests. Good interpersonal, organizational and decision-making skills. Ability to take initiative and work independently. Ability to effectively interact with a patient who may be under physical or emotional distress. Discuss with appropriate staff to insure patient is informed of any inconvenience. Clearly and effectively relays pertinent information to the interpreting physician. Ability to adjust to changing pace of department and frequent interruptions.
