The Technology Infrastructure Engineering and Operations Team delivers and supports all the foundational technology used across M&T Bank. Supports Two Data Centers, 1 Service Desk, 32,000 End User Computing devices, 14,000 Distributed platforms, 24 Mainframe Regions and process approximately 635,000 automated jobs per month. In addition to that foundational technology level, we also own and deliver End User & Collaboration tools with a focus on Ease of Use for the individual employee. Network Engineering Team LeadBuffalo, NY
Network Engineering Team Lead to support network performance management functions working within the Enterprise Monitoring Team. The EM Team is responsible for monitoring and managing the performance and availability of the M&T network. The M&T network is comprised of over 900 locations incorporating 3 data centers, over 4,000 Cisco routers and switches and a large service provider network.
Specific duties include ensuring that network devices comply with configuration best practices, day to day monitoring to ensure that adequate bandwidth and network device capacity is maintained, configuring router and switch performance management policies, and monitoring the network to detect and resolve performance issues before they cause business impact. This individual would also assist in network application problem diagnostics and problem isolation, as well as maintaining documentation to reflect the current operating environments. Responsibilities also include creating operational documentation to support management and maintenance of this infrastructure. This position will also include oversight of a team of 5 +/- individuals providing technical assistance and support, mentoring, performance management, and career development.
The candidate for this position should have good technical and communication skills plus the following:
·Expertise in IP Network design in a Cisco environment consistent with the Cisco professional certification level CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional).
·Expertise in Cisco IOS and Nexus CLI
·Programming expertise in a script or command language such as Perl or TCL
·Understanding of network latency - serialization, acknowledgement, processing, and queuing delays.
·Understanding of QoS concepts and the configuration of Cisco QoS mechanisms.
·In depth understanding of layer 2 and layer 3 technologies including switching, routing, IP, TCP, Vlans, MPLS, WLAN, Ethernet
·Experience with enterprise network management products used for packet filtering and collection of flows for diagnostic purposes.
·Proven network troubleshooting and analytical skills focused on root cause analysis of problems.
·Familiarity with the use of flow based diagnostic tools and network security mechanisms.
·Ability to work with others in a fast-paced, agile environment.
MIMINUM QUALIFICAITONS REQUIRED: Minimum two years college with at least ten years involvement in systems analysis and application development or an equivalent combination of education and experience Must be detail orientated/articulate with strong time management and organization skills Must have strong written and verbal communication skills to be able to present to a target audience Minimum 10 years' experience with network infrastructure, and familiarity with a broad range of networking technologies.
Must have programming experience Must be able to anticipate potential problems associated with network infrastructure or service level trends and plans for implementing solutions. Must be able to work flexible hours, including hours beyond the normal schedule when necessary; we operate in a 24x7x365 environment.
IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline preferred Ability to work effectively and closely with all levels of management within and across the organization. Must be able to work both independently or in a team environment. Must be familiar with industry and technology direction Detailed knowledge of the Bank's application framework
