Job Description:
SUMMARY
The Sample Login Technician's primary responsibility is to enter sample IDs and required tests from the chains of custody (COCs) into LIMS in a complete and accurate manner.
The Sample Login Technician will receive and document samples and chains of custody (COCs) to check integrity of all aspects of the sample receipt. Then will provide numbers to COCs according to a sequential job numbering system and designate sample ID numbers to each individual sample or sample set. From there they will assign and relocate samples to specific shelf locations in the appropriate cold storage (walk-in refrigerators) or ambient locations by analysis and department. Computer generated bottle records with volumes, workgroups, preservatives and locations are created, including bar code identifiers.
The COCs will be distributed to the appropriate management staff in the case of rush jobs or short holding time projects.

JOB FUNCTIONS

• Receive sample coolers and containers and document the receipt
• Some sample containers of various sizes (250ml, 500ml, 1000ml, etc.) will be required to be opened and checked for adequate preservation. Note : Preservation check is for aqueous samples only. No solvents, liquids, or malodorous samples are tested in this fashion.
• Create bottle records, generate bottle labels, and label samples.
• Transfer samples to and from cold or ambient storage areas.
• Maintain all required documentation with accuracy and clarity.
• Remove historical samples from completed jobs and assign samples for disposal.
• Provide communications regarding sample information to laboratory departments.
• Communicate with clients regarding requests.
• Adheres to internal standards, policies and procedures.
• May be required to answer telephone inquiries or requests for bottleware, volumes, and courier pickups.
• Performs other duties as assigned.



Qualifications:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor's degree in Science or Associates degree and one year of general business experience.
• High School Diploma and three years of general business experience.

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES
• Language Skills: English
• Mathematical Skills:Intermediate
• Reasoning Skills/Abilities: Intermediate
• Computer Skills: Knowledge of Outlook, Excel, Word and Adobe as well as navigating software.

TRAVEL
• No travel required.

EQUIPMENT
• This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers and phones.
• This role utilizes the use of a pH meter occasionally.
