Program Description: Mercy Integrated CLS Program is a post baccalaureate training program in Laboratory Science. The one-year program begins in July. It requires 40 hours a week, eight hours a day, with both classroom and clinical instruction. Upon successful completion, the student is eligible to take the ASCP Board of Certification exam to become a certified Medical Laboratory Scientist.  

Admission to the Program is competitive. Applications are due Dec 1st for the entrance into the following July class.

  Bachelor of Science degree in chemical, physical, biological science or medical technology which includes the following prerequisites.

·         Chemistry: 16 semester or 24 quarter hours to include organic and/or biochemistry. 

·         Biology: 16 semester or 24 quarter hours including microbiology and immunology. Immunology must be included as part of microbiology or as a separate course. Parasitology, Genetics, Molecular biology, and anatomy and physiology are strongly recommended. 

·         Mathematics: One college-level course. Statistics is strongly recommended. 

Grade Point Average: A minimum of 3.0 or higher
