The Accountant is responsible for preparing journal entries to record transactions and reconciling various general ledger accounts. Prepares monthly and quarterly GAAP and statutory financial reports that may include financial statements, cash flow projections or reinsurance related reports, depending on operational area.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepares accurate monthly journal entries to record transactions.
Prepares basic and some complex monthly reconciliations for information in the general ledger and coordinates the resolution of any reconciling items.
Accurately and timely prepares various parts of the Quarterly and Annual Statement (if applicable to operational area).
Prepares GAAP and/or statutory financial statements in addition to other internal management reports. Depending on operational area, may also prepare reinsurance reports and reconciliations or cash management reports and budgets, including cash flow projections.
Gathers and summarizes information from various accounting systems.
Provides some guidance and assistance to other financial and non-financial employees.
Experience with Oracle is a plus.

This position is primarily a sedentary position that requires occasional standing and walking throughout the office environment.

Must have the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written format.
Must have the ability to access and enter information accurately using automated systems.
Must be able to operate a computer, keyboard, applicable printers, and other general office equipment.
