Job Description:

Laser etch parts with computer-controlled laser etching machinery. All job functions will be accomplished by maintaining this company's principles of Safety, Quality, Customer Satisfaction and Innovations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Operate computer-controlled laser etching machinery.
  • Save, retrieve, and edit laser programs.
  • Import computer files as needed. Convert programs from CAD files.
  • Program different features.
  • Set-up laser equipment according to blueprint specifications and precise measurements. Run parts on the laser to meet specifications.
  • Utilize micrometers, calipers, and other measuring instruments to perform measurements when making set-ups and to ensure that parts meet specifications.
  • Work to improve set-up methods in order to improve productivity and quality.
  • Actively participates in 5S daily operator checklist responsibilities.
  • Additional duties may be assigned by supervisors at any time, as the Company's needs require.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to accurately use calipers, micrometers, and other required measuring instruments.
  • Ability to read blueprints and calculate dimensions.
  • Knowledge of computers and ability to perform necessary computer functions.
  • Ability to work independently and perform highly accurate work.
  • Ability to read and follow written procedures.
  • Ability to organize effectively, and complete all paperwork accurately.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others and work well under pressure.
  • Participate as a team member when asked for a kaizen event.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School diploma or general education degree. One to three months experience or training.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:

This position has moderate physical activity performing somewhat strenuous daily activities of a primarily product/technical nature.

  • The following physical/environmental demands could occur over two-thirds of the time:
  • Standing; walking; manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items and work with fingers.
  • The following physical/environmental demands occur from one-third up to two-thirds of the time:
  • Stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  • Ability to perform repetitive work more than 8 hours per day and weekend.
  • Ability to read fine print and distinguish color.
  • Ability to wear proper PPE.
  • This position has the following work environment conditions:
  • Works in well-lighted, heated and/or air conditioned indoor shop environment with adequate ventilation.
  • Has moderate to loud noise conditions.
  • Lifts product trays weighing up to 25 pounds less than one-third of the time.
  • Some air contamination
