The Business Intelligence Data Developer will focus on developing, maintaining, and supporting the delivery of large healthcare data warehouses and data marts during each phase of the development lifecycle, with tasks varying according to project. As a member of our BI Data Development team, this individual will gather data requirements, develop data models, define source to target data mappings, code data transformations, and build appropriate data tests. The candidate should have solid experience creating rigorous ETL processes and have full command of SQL and related data related technologies. Working with cloud native data processing platforms, especially AWS, will be a common activity for this role. Other coordination responsibilities will include preparing ETL components for promotion to higher environments, governance of the organization of the environments, some automation of back-end processes and training of user groups. This role will work closely with internal team members, external augmented resources, and cross-functionally across the IT organization in delivering these solutions.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Create high quality data ETL routines using various coding and data processing technologies such as SQL, Python, AWS Glue, SSIS, Talend, PySpark.
Build appropriate automated data tests to ensure the accurate and consistent application of business rules.
Refine and refactor data transformations for optimal data load performance.
Convert legacy ETL processes to newer cloud native technologies
Document and implement new data requirements provided by stakeholders, end users
Develop new or augment existing data models
Contribute to source to target data mapping documentation
Occasionally contribute required evidence for security and compliance audits
Collaborate with the various stakeholders to ensure consistency within the environment, release management, and the effective use of standards and best practices
Partner with BI Architects, Data Architects, and DBAs to optimize reporting performance.
Multitask and re-prioritize efforts on a regular basis
Collaborate with business partners and other technical staff to understand functional requirements and create system requirements, assess available technologies and recommend solution options.
Assist and mentor less experienced colleagues with standards and best practices
Actively participate in relevant corporate programs/initiatives, comply with professional and quality standards, comply with corporate policies and procedures, and act in a manner consistent with 3M’s values and ethical standards.
Possess a Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
Minimum of two (2) years of software development experience
Minimum of two (2) years of experience with relational database and SQL
Minimum of two (2) combined years of programming experience with data warehouses and/or equivalent large data sets
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science or related field
Software development experience with the following programming languages and tools: SQL Server, MySql, Python, Relational DBs, XML.
Experience building back end databases optimized for presentation layer platforms.
Development experience in a cloud computing environment; AWS preferred.
Experience with Test Driven Development (TDD)
Highly self-directed and able to manage and prioritize multiple concurrent and competing or conflicting challenges and issues
Demonstrated team player with results-oriented track record
Experience with database test automation
Ability to troubleshoot and research data and reporting issues
Work experience with healthcare data and healthcare related security concepts
Demonstrated abilities in creative problem solving and critical thinking
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
Strong communicator, possessing interpersonal skills and judgment in order to interact effectively with a broad spectrum of people, both individually and in groups
Excellent analytical and documentation skills
Highly motivated and a self-starter
