Job Description:

Summary of Role:

GLOBALFOUNDRIES Fab 10 is seeking a highly skilled and motivated silicon photonics device engineer, responsible for developing Silicon Photonic devices, contributing to a device suite that includes waveguides, couplers, modulators, multiplexers, polarization splitter / rotators, and detectors. Experience in the design and characterization of Modulators and Detectors is required.

Essential Responsibilities:

Report into the silicon photonics technology development organization in East Fishkill or Malta.

Own a subset of the device suite, such as MZ modulators, epi-Germanium detectors, or mux / demux devices for WDM.

Own the device through the entire life cycle, from device definition through release of design kit

Work jointly with design enablement, process integration, test and characterization teams to achieve device performance, yield, and reliability targets

Assist field engineers with customer support.

Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs

Required Qualifications:

Education - PhD. Degree in Electrical engineering, or Solid state physics

1+ years of relevant experience

Experience â€" silicon photonic device design and characterization - coursework or internship experience acceptable

Language Fluency â€" Fluent in English Language â€" written & verbal

Preferred Qualifications:

PhD. Degree in Electrical engineering, or Solid-state physics

Experience in optical simulation (RSoft, Lumerical) and RF simulation

Experience in test and characterization of photonic devices

Experience in semiconductor processing

Experience in data analysis

Excellent interpersonal skills, energetic, motivated, and self-driven

Demonstrate ability to work well within a global matrixed team or environment with minimal supervision

Outstanding communication skills - both written and verbal

Demonstrated ability to communicate well with all levels of the organization and experience in working with external constituencies

Strong organizational skills; demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and able to react to shifting priorities to meet business needs

Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and commitments

Familiar with 5S, 8D, 6-sigma, SPC, DOE, FMEA
