Application Developer, Information Technology Department

You will participate with a collaborative group of application analysts and developers identifying opportunities, implementing, and supporting solutions to meet diverse business requirements and solve the problems associated with scaling up complex business functions.

To give you an idea of the team structure, you will work on a team with other application professionals including analysts and developers working on a mixture of cloud, on premise, custom, and commercial applications, reporting to an application team supervisor. You will have the opportunity to serve as part of an expanding IT organization that supports enterprise wide business functions.

Below is an overview of the duties and responsibilities you would take on in this role:


  • Facilitate in application enhancement and development to mature a department's systems portfolio

  • Perform application assessments, identifying factors such as where existing undocumented applications serve core business needs, strategic areas for improvement, and legacy systems that can be decommissioned

  • Coordinate with other application professionals and outside service providers for efficient resourcing

  • Manage activities to assist with project management and alignment to business areas

  • Develop and curate subject matter expertise in the use of application tools related to assigned business areas

  • Understand company business goals and help prescribe how applications can support those processes

  • Provide guidance and assist in standards development for process documentation efforts to ensure level of detail matches process complexity

  • Monitor and evaluate overall application portfolio as it relates to each application's fit for purpose, scalability, and alignment with standards

  • Define and evaluate key performance indicators to ensure efforts support strategic vision

  • Assist in supporting the application team to scale the organization through new application strategies


Minimum Requirements:

  • Completion of bachelor's degree in a computer science or software systems related field, or three years relevant work experience

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills appropriate for a business environment

  • Ability to partner with business teams, developers, vendors, and IT staff to deliver solutions

  • Ability to independently diagnose problems and research solutions

  • Willingness to facilitate in user training and adoption of technical solutions

  • Strong organizational skills, accuracy, and attention to detail

  • Customer service attitude

  • High level of maturity, personal initiative, and good judgments

  • Ability to manage and provide visibility and clarity into personal workload and assigned effort progress.


Desirable Qualifications:

  • C# development experience

  • SQL development experience

  • Web development experience

  • Experience with human resource information systems or payroll systems (such as Ultipro, iCIMS, or other related software applications), and/or

  • Experience with accounting, financial and reporting processes or systems (such as Epicor, Anaplan, or common general ledger software), and/or

  • Experience with patient or customer facing technologies

  • Experience working in a corporate or healthcare environment

  • Project management exposure

  • Experience in a Microsoft web application development or support environment

  • Experience in business process analysis, documentation, and enhancement
