Marigold Catering, one of Cleveland's premiere caterers, is seeking a full time individual to take on the role of an Event Planner and join our team!
POSITION SUMMARY
A Marigold Catering Event Planner is a dual role covering event planning and sales. The initial responsibility of an Event Planner is to further develop existing business and solicit new business through traditional and non-traditional sales techniques. Once business is secured the Event Planner will plan and coordinate all aspects of the event while assuring the highest level of client service from start to finish in accordance to the Marigold standards and culture.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to):
Maintains lead log and attempt to book business through inquiry process and sales tactics
Manages sales activities such as sales calls, site visits and cold calling to generate revenue and book business
Creates upsell opportunities within already booked events to generate incremental revenue
Once an event is booked, works with the Executive Chef to develop a menu as well as complete event paperwork such as cost estimates, contracts, banquet event orders, event floor plans and more, based on client needs and best operational scenarios
Works closely with other departments to provide solutions and service based on client needs
Responsible for helping facilitate collecting of deposits and payments based on company procedures
Responsible for successfully managing event staff while onsite at events
Provides excellent customer service with the utmost professional integrity according to Marigold standards and culture
Handles a high volume of work with little oversight
Attends industry related events to network with peers
Keeps current with industry trends
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration or related field
Three or more (3+) years of strong food/beverage sales, menu planning and event consulting or related experience
Logistics experience with a catering company, service hotel or other related/equivalent is required
Proven success in negotiating and closing sales at the executive level
A track record of consistently exceeding sales quotas and targets over time
A positive attitude with a passion for events and catering
Detail orientation along with the ability to multi-task
Adept at managing and prioritizing multiple clients and events in a fast-paced environment
Strong time management and organizational skills
Excellent problem solving capabilities
Excellent organizational skills along with being conscientious of the quantity of bookings each day/week
Experience in revenue and account management and the ability to generate strong, long-term client relationship
Proficient computer knowledge in Word, Excel, and Google Drive (docs, calendar, etc.)
Night and weekend work will often be required, with the ability for a flexible schedule when possible

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision ability required by this job includes close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
