Job Description:

POSITION INFORMATION:  Standard leave and benefits as provided by OU Health Systems. 


REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:



  1. Patient Care.  Will serve as a daytime member of the medical ICU team, caring for the complex, critically-ill patients in conjunction with ICU Attending Physicians and Fellows in ICU training. Coverage of one weekend per month is required.

  2. Patient Relationship.  Will care for patients in medical ICU and communicate with patient families as part of a team approach involving nurses, social workers, physicians, pharmacists and mid-level providers.

  3. Care Plans.  Will devise daily care plans with immediately-available physician input and assistance with performance of procedures like central lines, arterial lines and intubation. 

  4. As Needed.  Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.

Education:  Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Program or a Master's Degree in Nursing for the Nurse Practitioner

 

Certifications: 


Physician's Assistant: certification and Oklahoma State Board of Medical Licensure as physician assistant or ability to obtain temporary authorization to practice within 60 days.

 

Or

 

Nurse Practitioner: Registered Nurse in State of Oklahoma and certified as a Nurse Practitioner (acute care trained) by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing.  Some positions may require certification in a specialty area.  CPR Certification.
