We are looking for a full-time Software Certification Engineer 2 for our headquarters in the greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting and/or supporting Software Quality Assurance (SQA) audits on increasingly complex projects to ensure compliance to RTCA DO-178B/DO-178C and to Garmin standards. Other essential functions include:
Drafts software certification plan documents
Modifies and/or develops scripts to aid in the completion of documents and audits
Participates in the maintenance of software standards and forms
Supports high level software product testing as needed
Proposes solutions to issues that arise in document completion or audit closure
Collaborates and adds value to software process and certification
Conduct root cause research involving source code analysis, requirements, testing or process.
Has the potential to approve software life cycle data for compliance to RTCA DO-178B/DO-178C, in support of product TSOAs or conformities, if additional criteria are met according to Garmin policy.
Qualified candidates possess a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Information Technology, Management Information Systems or another substantially similar technical field AND 1 year experience performing a role with substantially similar essential functions. Other requirements include:
Outstanding academics (minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA as a general rule) with the demonstrated ability to apply learned knowledge
Must possess a minimum of 1 year experience in at least one of the following areas: software development processes, process auditing, or aviation software regulatory documentation
Demonstrates proficient use and knowledge of engineering tools
Demonstrates proficient use and knowledge of established standards and procedures
Must be detail-oriented with the ability to maintain and deliver a high level of quality and accuracy
Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Experience working with RTCA DO-178B/DO-178C process, experience in software development/verification, and software root cause analysis experience is highly preferred!
