In this full-time consulting role, the Technical Advisor - Data Science Engineer, is involved in analysis, requirements definition, designing, developing, leading, training and promoting current and future phases of client projects to solve complex business problems by taking a new perspective using existing solutions for Business Intelligence - Data.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for providing technical advice for data science – business intelligence – big data including analyzing, testing, updating, installing, configuring, data architecture, data modeling, reporting standards and procedures, data definitions development, project issue resolving and reconciliation. and administering Big Data products.

  • Work collaboratively with team to identify and provide business intelligence solutions


Required Skills:

  • 5+ years of work experience with Business Intelligence/Data-warehousing products, specifically with installing, configuring, and administering Big Data products

  • Hands-on experience on Big Data Vendor products from Cloudera, Hortonworks, Pivotal, MapR, etc.

  • Hands-on knowledge of Big Data technologies such as Hive, Hbase, Zookeeper, Spark, Storm, etc.

  • Hands-on experience on Hadoop 2.0 components like Yarn and High-availability

  • Hands-on experience in creating Clusters, HDFS backup and Migration

  • Hands-on experience with cluster upgrades, migrating applications and customization

  • Hands-on experience in Authentication/Authorization mechanism such as Kerberos and Sentry

  • Experience in Tableau development 

  • Experience with production-level support for onsite and offshore teams a plus

  • Experience on Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure a plus

  • Infrastructure architecture experience, including hardware sizing, effort estimation and security design

  • Strong DBA skills with at least one of the following: PostgreSQL, Oracle 11g, DB2 10.1 or SQL Server 2012 is strongly preferred

  • Experience with at least one of the following is preferred: NoSQL DBs, Cognos, IBM DataStage, DB2, Teradata, Endeca, and SAS

  • Excellent listening, written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong analytical and reasoning skills, sound decision-making and organizational abilities

  • Prior consulting experience -Consulting companies focused on Data Science / AI 

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or related technology discipline

  • Ability to travel 75%



  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in MIS, Computer Science or related field. Experience can substitute for the degree.

  • Experience: A minimum of six years of Reporting and Information Delivery experience. Experience leading a team and interacting with client users.


Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

  • Language Skills: Professional Business English

  • Reasoning Skills: Excellent Customer Service and communication skills   

  • Computer and/or Technical Skills: Minimum 5 years Knowledge of Business Intelligence/Data

  • Knowledge of Dashboard and Scorecard or Executive Information System (EIS) functionality and capabilities.

  • Relational, OLAP, Star Schema, Snowflake Schema, Multi-Dimensional database modeling and design skills.

  • Strong SQL query, data analysis and report writing skills.
