Job Description:


The Business Architect is responsible for developing a comprehensive understanding of the needs of the business owner related to core system(s) functionality, articulating those needs as business requirements and working with the appropriate resources to identify, recommend and provide efficient and effective system solutions. He/she aligns and prioritizes the work and identifies potential impact(s) to the department(s) and the organization. The Business Architect serves as a core system(s) expert and liaison among functional areas within the organization and with external vendors to assess feasibility of ideas and solutions related to core system(s), potential for success and to drive initiatives to value realization. He/she will be actively engaged on cross functional teams comprised of cross-functional resources, as required to effectively deliver on core system requirements related to system configuration requirements, regulatory requirements and operational efficiency initiatives.


  • Bachelor.........s degree required....  An additional four (4) years of operations/systems development experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

  • Five (5) years of demonstrated multi-dimension operations/systems experience required.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead core system based initiatives to a successful outcome.

  • Experience with business process management design and system implementations strongly preferred.

  • Demonstrated and proven understanding of project management tools and methodologies (Project Life-Cycle, etc.).

  • Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of associates across multiple business areas.

  • Experience implementing and/or supporting packaged application systems.

  • Ability to understand complex business problems and apply cost effective solutions.

  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills required.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers at all levels.

Key Accountabilities
Planning and Design:

  • Work with external vendor(s), business leaders, IT Business Analysts (BAs) and IT Architects to finalize high-level business requirements, as well as functional and technical requirements

  • Define re-engineered core system processes and configurations.

  • Define and pursue effective and efficient core system solutions, and work on high-level configuration of the solution

  • Provide written recommendations related to issues; understand impacts to core system solution delivery.

Relationship Management:

  • Foster strong stakeholder relations within areas of responsibility Meet regularly with stakeholders to solicit feedback on core system needs and on the effectiveness of core system functionality, as well as on projects/programs.

  • Work with business unit(s) in setting priorities on projects and enhancements.

  • Work collaboratively with Enterprise Architecture to develop solutions that drive business value.

  • Establish and maintain communication channels with delivery management to ensure understanding of project/initiative status and issues.

  • Participate in the development of the business and IT plans in support of the organizational strategy, business plans and critical capability plans.

  • Review performance metrics and plans for improvements

Business Process Management:

  • Responsible for ongoing operational and administrative functions related to supporting various core system(s) and processes.

  • Identify process improvement/redesign opportunities; Document and redesign business processes as appropriate. Facilitate process change.

  • Define relevant performance metrics for core business processes and facilitate continuous improvement in business processes.

Feasibility and Assessment:

  • Serve as system/operational expert and liaison among functional areas within the organization to assess feasibility of ideas and assess potential for success and realization of value.
