The Health Services Researcher collaborates with other team members to lead research and writing activities in a timely, accurate, and efficient manner, within budget and to the highest possible written, scientific, and ethical standards.
Prepare clinical case studies and data-based, original research articles or scientific briefs on a range of topics for review and publication.
Provide high-quality medical and scientific writing from planning and coordination of literature search through delivery of final drafts.
Provide technical consultation and provides substantive advice on study design, analytic strategy, and journal selection.
Effectively manage research and writing projects to deliver quality products in agreed timelines.
Participation on multidisciplinary teams.
Advise and mentor colleagues and clients on medical writing-related issues.
Understand the process for peer reviewed journal submission.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Excellent written English, able to accurately interpret data and express findings in a clear and concise written manner.
Excellent project/time management and organizational skills and ability to work on own initiative.
Comfort mentoring less seasoned researchers through the manuscript preparation process
Flexibility in meeting challenging deadlines and changing requirements.
Knowledge and experience in internet research.
Ability to communicate with professionals from a variety of backgrounds.
Attention to detail—style, consistency, grammar, syntax, scientific accuracy.
Good interpersonal skills with confidence in managing physicians/clients/authors.
Experience writing about complex topics for professional audiences.
Editing and proofreading (specializing in medical content).
Project and publications management.
Quantitative / public health doctoral-level degree with a minimum of 5 years previous research and publication track record
Experience writing for and submitting to medical/clinical peer reviewed journals.
Proficiency with statistical analyses and relevant software and reference management packages
Strong written and oral communications skills: ability to communicate effectively with clinicians and non-technical personnel.
Competent in searching and synthesizing medical literature relevant to publication projects.
Must demonstrate a high-quality writing style in the English language and have the ability to independently analyze and synthesize data from a broad range of disciplines.
Exceptional organizational and project planning skills.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a complex matrix organization.
Dynamic, self-starter with strong influencing skills and adaptable to change
Familiarity with the 10th Edition of the American Medical Association Manual of Style and good publication practices (GPP-3).
Writing samples required.
