Assist the Transportation Manager in extending leadership, direction, and training. Provide project management oversight and apply engineering expertise in the daily operations of preparing Plans, Specification & Estimate (PS&E), preliminary engineering reports (PER), preliminary & geometric schematics, and traffic engineering related studies for various roadway projects. Responsibilities also include maintaining client relationships, maintaining quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC), and closely monitoring project costs. Assist with the strategic growth of the Transportation Design Team and provide mentoring and career guidance to design team members.
Independently coordinate the work of engineers, designers/draft persons and sub-consultants throughout the project’s execution.
Establish and maintain client relations.
Attends client meetings - days or nights.
Be involved with marketing, contractual development, and design implementation.
Assist with managing the financial aspects of assigned engineering projects; coordinating and adjusting the work effort within the project team to ensure project work is completed on schedule and within allocated budget.
Simultaneously manage multiple projects and clients.
Use computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents.
Responsible for project team quality system tasks as defined in the Quality Assurance / Quality Control guidelines.
Visit construction site to monitor progress and other duties per the contract documents.
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university
Licensed as a Professional Engineer in Texas
5+ years experience in preparation of Plans, Specification & Estimates (PS&E) for TxDOT rural and urban roadway projects and development of preliminary and geometric roadway schematics.
Working experience with MS Office products, Microstation and Geopak.
