Process Control Technician
Do you enjoy working in a self-directed environment?  Then we have the job for you!  Our Clarendon facility in Alcolu, SC is one of Georgia-Pacific newest facilities using some of the most advanced technology to create the specialty brand of Blue Ribbon Oriented Strand Board (OSB).

A Day in the Life Typically Includes:

  • Ensure final quality of all products produced:  board dimensions, board properties, board appearance, unit appearance, etc.

  • Ensure correct marking of the product during production.

  • Collect, process, and analyze data related to producing a product that is in speck and within minimum variation.

  • Respond to data that is “out of control” by establishing an assignable cause and following through with a corrective action.

  • Assist with troubleshooting quality problems and understand how production equipment affect the quality of the product. 

  • Assist in the design and implementation of research and development projects and help with special projects related to continuous improvement.

  • Monitor grading process and respond to leading causes(s) of downgrade with corrective action.

  • Ensure proper raw material dosage per product.

  • Perform tests/trials beyond routine that are assigned by the Technical Supervisor.

  • Ensure all product certification agency (APA/TECO) guidelines and GP quality policies are followed. 

  • Provide proper documentation to ensure good communication and compliance verification.

  • Assist in necessary maintenance project related to the QC Department, Down day activities, blender maintenance, atomizer rebuilding.

  • Unload resin/wax trucks.

  • Assume any other duties assigned by the Technical Supervisor.

  • Participate in the maintenance of a clean and safe working environment, including but not limited to the lab, resin room, and sample cutting/prep area.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Good computer skills, MS Office, etc.

  • Good communication skills

  • Willing and able to work in a hot, humid, cold, and noisy industrial environment.

  • Willing and able to wear the necessary Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required by specific jobs.

  • Willing and able to perform tasks such as lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing, and/or pulling for up to 12 hours per day.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate Degree

  • 2 years or more manufacturing experience.
