The Coding and Billing Specialist position will support our providers and billing team by assisting with the selection of the most appropriate codes for Medical, Dental, and Behavioral Health claims and reviewing medical records for coding accuracy. Candidate must be dependable, a team player, having strong interpersonal and communication skills, attention to details, the ability to multi-task, as well as strong analytical skills while being self-driven to meet deadlines.
SIGNIFICANT JOB FUNCTIONS
Provide coding training and assistance to organization. Identify, compile and code patient data, using ICD-10 and CPT and other standard classification coding systems. Review data, such as history and extent of disease, diagnostic procedures and treatment for completeness, accuracy and compliance with regulations. Bill all visit types medical, dental and behavioral health daily in Centricity. Knows required set ups for each insurance type based on discipline. Assists with patient phone calls as needed Performs necessary rebilling or adjusting on accounts Cross trains within department to provide coverage when necessary Assists with special projects as needed.
A.S. Health Information Management Systems (preferred) or Business or related field, with 2+ years' experience in healthcare billing.
Must be AAPC or AHIMA certified; Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Outpatient Coding (COC)
