Job Description:

Senior Tax Analyst

The Senior Tax Analyst is responsible for ensuring WOW!s compliance in all aspects of transaction tax liabilities by filing accurate and timely tax returns and other reports across the states WOW! operates pursuant to federal, state, and local rules and regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to those listed below:
  • Create and refine various process documentation that will aid in development efforts and contingency plans
  • Analyze new tax laws, regulations, reporting requirements, and court cases, and implement those that impact the tax compliance
  • Evaluate, through modeling, the tax effect and implications of business strategies, contemplated transactions, and business proposals to properly advise management
  • Analysis of monthly activity and vendors for consumers use tax reporting
  • Prepare transaction tax returns (e.g., sales and use, business and occupation, gross receipts, telecommunications) and remittances for monthly, quarterly and annual filings
  • Prepare TRS and E911 fees
  • File returns and tax payments/deposits via electronic and paper filing methods
  • Prepare transaction tax, property tax, unclaimed property and income tax general ledger accounts
  • Establish Business License Tax Return filing and tracking process
  • Develop and maintain tax calendars to ensure that commitments are timely met
  • Assist with the processing and mailing of all estimated tax payments, extensions and income tax returns
  • Provide support for state and local audits by performing analytics on data and researching positions
  • Responsible for the follow-up and resolution of tax notices and correspondence from federal, state and local tax authorities
  • Responsible for Unclaimed Property information gathering
  • Contribute to special projects as necessary
  • Development and implementation of process improvements
  • Build and maintain relationships with other key departments including accounting, legal, internal audit, human resources, and the regional offices
  • Other duties as assigned

Education :
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or another related Business degree

Experience/Skills Needed:
  • 5+ years of relevant experience with at least 2 years in a similar role overseeing and preparing a large volume of transaction tax returns or similar compliance
  • Understanding of compliance process and account reconciliation concepts
  • Work effectively in a fast-paced, high energy work environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of personnel
  • Able to build strong working relationships both inside and outside the organization
  • Should be a goal-oriented, independent self-starter
  • An organized thinker with strong analytical and computer skills
  • Able to effectively manage multiple priorities and have the ability to work independently with frequent interruptions and changes in priorities
  • Strong desire to expand tax knowledge and grow skills by taking on increasingly more responsibilities
  • Exposure to property tax and/or unclaimed property beneficial
  • Cable/telecommunications industry experience a plus

Computer Skills:

Proficient with Google Suite and all Microsoft products, general ledger software (Great Plains/NetSuite preferred), Internet, email, and database software, as required.
