Electrical & Instrumentation Technician – Cedar Springs, GA

Georgia-Pacific Cedar Springs, GA is looking for an Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Technician. These are highly skilled hourly positions requiring experience troubleshooting E&I systems. Successful candidates must be self-motivated and skilled professionals with a working knowledge of industrial electrical systems.

A Day In The Life Typically Includes:

  • Communicating daily work performed and machine conditions via written and verbal documentation

  • Troubleshooting, repairing, overhauling, and maintaining electrical/mechanical equipment

  • Adhering to all plant safety and environmental guidelines, policies, and procedures and actively participating in the safety program

  • Helping facility meet or exceed production, waste and quality goals

  • Participating in a preventative maintenance program to ensure machinery uptime

What You Will Need:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Willing and able to work in a hot, humid, cold and noisy heavy industrial environment around chemicals, high speed equipment, confined spaces, and high elevations

  • Willing and able to work any shift including weekends, overtime and holidays as needed

  • A minimum of three (3) years of industrial or military electrical experience

  • A minimum of two (2) years of industrial or military instrumentation experience to include PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers)

  • Experience using Microsoft Word (to write business correspondence), Excel (for use of spreadsheets, reporting, simple formulas) and Outlook (for internal and external correspondence)

  • Knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC)

  • Knowledge of AC/DC motors and drives

  • Experience reading electrical schematics, including single line diagrams and ladder logic

  • Experience working with hydraulic and pneumatic systems 

  • Experience with calibration, loop checking, and maintenance and repair of instrument and pneumatic equipment

  • Experience communicating with all levels of the organization, e.g.;via reports, e-mail, verbally, and/or in small/large group settings, in a team environment

What Will Put You Ahead?

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Paper mill experience  

  • Experience with ABB and/or Allen Bradley drives

  • Experience with Honeywell controls  

  • Experience with a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)  

  • Knowledge of air conditioning systems

  • Knowledge of high voltage switchgear

  • Graduate of journeyman training program, trade school or technical military training
