Job Description:

The Strategy Director, Portfolio Optimization is ultimately responsible for partnering with Division Presidents and the Chief Strategy Officer to assess, develop and drive long term Division/Business Unit Strategy and execution that is aligned with Corporate Strategy. He/She will be a key partner to the Division Presidents, sitting on the Division President's staff/leadership team and collaborating with Division GMs to drive execution of Strategic Initiatives related portfolio/category optimization. He/She will be responsible for driving long term thinking and leading key cross-division strategic projects. This position adds high level analytical support including portfolio management, annual planning, strategic planning and future state modeling aligned to M&A or divestiture recommendations.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Work with Division Presidents and GMs to develop business unit strategy and strategic plans that deliver against multiyear objectives.
  • Establish thought leadership/partnership role within the Divisions and earn credibility to become a key advisor to Division Presidents
  • Partner with GMs to understand, develop and execute long term category strategies
  • Lead the strategic planning process for Divisions
  • Collaborate with executive leadership team, strategy counterparts, and business leads to hone integrated strategic plans and identify key priorities
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify margin improvement, capital allocation, and growth initiatives; develop and successfully execute related business unit projects.
  • Act as liaison among Commercial, R&D, Finance, Supply Chain & Divisions to coordinate and facilitate the information flow and lead the execution of category projects within THS businesses.
  • Conduct due diligence on potential acquisition targets and lead post close integration efforts.
  • Perform deep dive analysis on categories, financials, customers and cost structure, identifying opportunities for growth and/or gaps against current plans or against overall category performance.
  • Develop workplans and project management structure to perform analysis on categories, financials, customers, cost structure etc. or drive cross-division strategic projects
  • Participate in the recruiting, hiring and ongoing development of direct reports and other manager level strategy professional

Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in a highly analytical/problem solving organization with demonstrated success in portfolio strategy and project management roles
  • 2+ years of experience with a major strategy consulting firm preferred, complemented with an MBA or equivalent educational background
  • Experience developing growth strategy, strategic plans and driving M&A in large complex, multi-category environments
  • Strong leadership with the ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams
  • Effectively drive strategy and execution at all levels of the organization
  • Creative problem solving and ability to drive innovative solutions
  • An energetic, self-starter with an inquiring mind, initiative and the ability to work as part of a cohesive team in an environment that values professional excellence and results
  • A proactive style and approach. Willing to question and propose solutions, alternatives and or new ways of doing things, accepting responsibility along the way
  • Attention to detail and sound, practical judgment
  • Must be able to manage multiple complex initiatives simultaneously
  • Experience in retail and consumer packaged goods sectors ideal
  • Excellent Excel and PowerPoint capabilities
