Edelman’s Financial Communications & Public Affairs team is seeking a self-motivated and hardworking individual looking to grow their career in financial communications and public policy consulting.

The Account Supervisor will have a sophisticated understanding of the financial services industry and market-oriented special situations, including wealth management and financial planning, insurance, asset management, alternative investments, fintech, and corporate governance. This person will have experience with legislative and regulatory issues impacting these areas and develop and manage communications marketing plans that span print, broadcast, blogs, social media, and digital channels. You know that developing messaging and crafting Op-Eds is just as important as digitally oriented experience managing website builds, overseeing social media and paid amplification programs, driving the development of effective creative, and supporting search engine optimization goals. This person will  apply their understanding of the market and regulatory landscape to develop high-level strategies and counsel clients on implementation. 

Job Description: 

The Account Supervisor plays a lead role on client accounts and is responsible for developing and running communications programs for our deep roster of financial services clients. Ideal candidates will come from related fields including agency, journalism, in-house communications, regulators or Congress.

The candidate should have strong knowledge and understanding of the financial services industry, capital markets and related policy issues.  The candidate should have strong hands-on media relations experience with top-tier business outlets, a track record of developing and implementing successful communications programs, and experience in serving as a day-to-day client lead or principal manager.


  • Drive and lead communications strategies and programs

  • Manage multiple projects, including for large and global accounts across both traditional and digital communications channels

  • Serve as day-to-day client lead

  • Serve as a spokesperson for media inquiries on behalf of clients

  • Review and edit client materials, including client communications, press releases, Q&A’s, talking points and key messaging documents 

  • Strategize and lead teams in executing on media relations programs

  • Leverage strong media relationships to deliver results for clients

  • Gain consensus and work with internal and external partners, including industry coalitions, international consortiums and working groups

  • Lead collaborative scenario planning, strategy and thought leadership sessions with internal staff and clients

  • Actively be involved in new business opportunities, including identifying new business prospects, networking, developing content for presentations and participating in new business pitches and meetings

  • Serve as a mentor for junior staff and assist in ensuring junior staff are trained, engaged and have the right resources to succeed

Desired Skills/Knowledge:

  • 4-6 years of relevant experience in financial communications, policy communications, business media, or related field

  • A strong understanding of the financial services industry, previous work with investment banking, asset management, private equity or hedge fund clients a plus

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills

  • Leadership skills and ability to effectively lead and manage a team

  • Strong organizational skills; able to multi-task various responsibilities

  • Ability to think critically and demonstrate good judgment.

  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal skills; writes and presents effectively 

  • Ability to provide exception client services

  • Interpersonally agile and a team player

  • Experience working in Congress or financial regulators desired

Basic Qualifications:

The account supervisor must have at least four years of relevant experience in public relations and/or related fields including research, advertising, management consulting, media and publishing.
