The Senior Health Care Business Consultant will manage business unit projects and lead development and implementation of large scale, cross-divisional projects and initiatives in the delivery system. The Sr. HBC will engage with internal delivery system clients to improve operational, clinical and financial performance. The Sr. HBC will oversee business-related support, strategic analytics, and guidance to clients as the basis for decision making. Projects will vary but may include: evaluating and developing proposals for new market initiatives, building business cases to justify an investment, analyzing business opportunities, developing business strategy, and problem solving.
COMMUNICATION AND SYNTHESIS: Authors and presents business plans summarizing business opportunities, fact base to support finding, investment requirements and expected return and recommendations. Facilitates client and team workshops and problem solving. Provides clients with feedback and recommendations.
STAFF DEVELOPMENT: Serves as a lead consultant to organize, delegate and oversee team contributions to project work plans. Effectively directs, coaches, motivates, and evaluates junior team members.
CLIENT MANAGEMENT: Interviews leadership sponsor to ensure deep understanding of the business problem or opportunity. Engages with client to define the project scope and objectives, the organization of the project team, timeline / milestones, and overall approach. Engages with external partners on business development projects. Develops the project strategy, proposal, charter, and outline for management and client review. Oversees development of project plan. Manages team resources needed to complete the project within specified timeframe. Communicates with leadership sponsor frequently.
SOLUTION DESIGN: Continuous scan and analysis of health care industry trends and application of new and disruptive business and technology strategies. Data collection using stakeholder interviews, surveys, focus groups and/or examining work product, processes, and reports. Uses actuarial and other financial models to develop analytical results. Data analysis and synthesis. Identifies gaps and develop best practice solutions.
IMPLEMENTATION and EVALUATION: Leads implementation planning and incorporates communication and change management activities to support the change. Drives Test Plan definition, creation and performance. Creates investment plan and manages budget. Manages P&L results of implemented projects (if applicable). Manages the intervention implementation.
Minimum five (5) years of combined relevant experience in management consulting, finance and/or health care provider industry.
Master's degree in business administration or health care management.
License, Certification, Registration
Strong understanding of health system profitability drivers and decision making.
Well developed project, people management and client relationship skills.
Capable of influencing without authority, leveraging their strategic consulting skills, and operating in and be comfortable with ambiguity.
Able to own a discrete work stream, work independently, and be proactive.
Highly motivated with strong work ethic.
Ability to quickly establish a rapport and build strong relationships with C-suite executives and various levels of leadership.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills demonstrated by the ability to structure and solve complex problems and synthesize quantitative and qualitative information into actionable recommendations.
Capable of managing multiple priorities, project plans, deadlines, and resources.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal communication and presentation skills.
Knowledge of computer operations and programs.
Demonstrated proficiency with Excel.
Three (3) plus years of experience within a management consulting environment preferred, reaching manager or team lead level.
Master's degree in business administration from top-tier program.
