The Business Development (BD) Manager reports into the Vice President of Strategy for the Orthopedics Group and is responsible for identifying, analyzing, & recommending attractive acquisition and divestiture opportunities. This position also drives and assists with the financial modeling and valuation analyses, supporting deal execution including due diligence coordination, preparing deal presentation materials and maintaining BD pipeline reports and trackers.
• Serve as a strategic advisor to Business Segment leadership teams in executing against their strategic plan, focused on bridging gaps with external business development opportunities. • Analyze strategic, financial and cultural fit of potential targets to the business portfolio, including standard financial model and valuation analysis. • Screen, identify and force rank attractive opportunities for acquisitions of businesses within relevant markets and submarkets. • Monitor overall business portfolio health and assess opportunities for divestiture. • Interface with business unit partners and corporate functions on new opportunity. • Demonstrate excellent analytical and conceptualization skills as well as understand Zimmer Biomet’s strategic objectives to assess business opportunities and their fit with company direction. • Develop/own Deal Models using standard financial model in partnership with business to ensure business has fully considered key variables such as pricing, adoption curves, expense build and synergies. • Utilize knowledge of competition, market, and product potential to seek out and recommend business development opportunities. • Trusted partner to strategic and commercial leaders across the company to advise, consult, and develop insights to business partners on high profile projects. • Track record of successful business development deal execution or finance support, medical devices / pharmaceuticals background preferred. • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills. • Excellent communication skills in presenting business development opportunities to senior leaders. • Must be able to influence key decisions without having direct decision making authority. • Demonstrates strong financial modeling skills and business acumen. • Ability to work in a cross functional team environment and deal with ambiguity. • Highly motivated, self-starter willing to deliver results and meet strict deadlines. • Demonstrates strong project management skills. Possesses advanced Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point skills.
• A. or B.S. in Business Administration or related field required. MBA preferred. 6-8 years of work experience in Business Development, Finance/Banking, Strategy, or related areas.
