Job Description:
Manager, Commercial Sales Engineering

The Manager, Commercial Sales engineering provides the first-level of supervision to a staff of Commercial Sales Engineers, and oversees their activities to assure that the company and customers are provided the best technical sales support and expertise; while driving the overall sales growth strategy.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to those listed below:
  • Manages and builds a high performance team, hires and retains the required talent in the specific roles, sets goals, delegates work, holds direct reports accountable, and develops and empowers direct reports to make decisions and take action
  • Demonstrates Company's values, maintains a positive, open demeanor, encourages different points of view, moves team forward through change, provides timely information, communicates context for commercial business decisions, recognizes accomplishments and fosters teamwork and collaboration
  • Manages, coordinates and directs the preparation and presentation of technical proposals to customers and provides leadership plus technical guidance to staff and customer technical staff to ensure full understanding of how the company's services will best meet the customer's needs
  • Develops and ensures attainment of new sales growth for strategic accounts, which contribute to the company's EBITDA through increasing revenue to meet or exceed company expected revenue growth and market share objectives on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis
  • Ensures sales engineers adhere to channel policy rules and guidelines
  • Other duties as assigned

Education :

Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university preferred; or equivalent training, education, and experience

Experience/Skills Needed :
  • 8+ years of sales engineering and networking experience
  • 5+ years of experience in a telecom environment required
  • 5+ years of leadership experience including recruiting, coaching, training, team building, career development and an understanding of working through conflict core concepts
  • Effective tactical planning and time management skills
  • Collaborative problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of the sales cycle
  • Strong sales skills in presentation and proposal design

Computer Skills :
  • Must have a working knowledge of Metro Ethernet technologies
  • Must have a working knowledge of TCP/IP, firewalls and VPNs, data Virtualization and Backup
  • Strong knowledge of industry networking technologies
  • Familiar with various networking fundamentals related to routers, switches, LAN, MAN, WAN, DS3, OC-x, CSU/DSU and other CPE
  • Cisco and VMware certifications preferred
  • G Suite experience preferred
