Edelman is looking for a Vice President, Finance in the Seattle office. This role is responsible for the financial management of a large, complex, global client that is managed out of the PNW. In this role, you will partner with senior management on strategy, staffing, forecasting, compliance, contract management and pricing of the business. The Vice President, Finance is a strategic partner to the managing director, managing a complex client with many moving parts. You will be responsible for the financials, compliance, analysis, negotiations and operations of the client business as well as driving improvements in process, analytics and tools. The role reports to the PNW regional finance director and will have an opportunity to manage direct reports.


  • Strategic partner and counsel to managing director and client leadership team

  • Responsible for financial management of multiple work streams and groups including oversight of revenue recognition, financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, process compliance and staffing

  • Provide analysis and counsel on larger or more complex projects including contract and pricing negotiations

  • Partner with PR & Digital teams in pricing large client proposals, responding to RFP/I’s, and developing budgets

  • Facilitates negotiation of client and vendor contracts between clients/vendors, account staff/senior management and legal department, including full review of all business terms

  • Review and approve all Scope of Work (SOW’s), Master Service Agreements (MSA’s), and vendor contracts in accordance with key business terms and financial structure. Ensure that projects are managed in accordance with contracts

  • Negotiation and analysis of bill rates, volume discounts and other financial incentives

  • Determine pricing strategies to ensure department and agency financial objectives are being met

  • Assist PR & Digital teams with monthly project budget tracking and other required client reporting

  • Communicate with clients regarding budgets, billing and accounts receivable issues

  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with procurement/purchasing contacts

  • Determine strategic approach to managing individual client audits; interface with clients to ensure needs are met

  • Review monthly fee and expense detail and analyze monthly financial statements for accuracy and explain significant variances to budget or forecast

  • Manage rhythm of business with Delivery team to ensure the right priorities are executed, accountabilities are set, and ensure all relevant parties are aware of financial landscape of the business

  • Develop annual operating budgets and maintain accurate quarterly projections

  • Provide senior management with monthly financial package describing results to date, forward projections compared to budget and commentary around noticeable trends

  • Analyze management reports, identify and communicate areas of concern and suggested improvements to account staff and management (e.g., client profitability, utilization, over/under service, missing time, revenue risk and staffing plans)

  • Develop, review and maintain client staffing and revenue plans

  • Apply analysis and judgment to solve complex problems

  • Drive profitability by working with unit’s management and account teams to improve client and resource management

  • Contribute to performance appraisal process for peers and managers

  • Supervise a small team of finance professionals

  • Provide ongoing constructive feedback and consistently hold staff accountable for performance, compliance and ethical business conduct

  • Help attract new talent


  • The Vice President, Finance must possess advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

  • S/he must possess knowledge of financial systems (Peoplesoft, SAP or any other ERP system), the ability to design and use spreadsheets, and at least five years’ experience in Finance and/or Accounting

  • The Vice President, Finance will facilitate all accounting functions for designated client and correlating workstreams. S/he must ensure accurate and timely information to client and relevant personnel and management

  • The Vice President, Finance must be well organized with excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills

  • S/he must possess strong problem solving, and time management skills, with attention to detail, following through on projects and handling multiple tasks

  • S/he must possess management skills and have a passion for people, processes, compliance and accountability

  • S/he must also take initiative, juggle conflicting priorities and function well in a fast-paced environment

  • Knowledge of Paid Media, Digital Marketing or Public Relations a plus

  • Professional services industry experience preferred
