Georgia Pacific is seeking a talented Plant Engineer for its gypsum facility in Cumberland City, TN.  The Plant Engineer will be responsible for organizing and executing all the activities that will deliver both Capital and Small projects. This includes design, construction/installation, commissioning, startup, and documentation activities. The Plant Engineer provides the detailed technical documents for material and equipment procurement, fabrication and construction/installation. This role will also plan and schedule the project work, order the materials from company-approved suppliers, track timing and cost, manage the construction/installation group, and communicate project expectations and progress.  The Plant Engineer also focuses on Contractor Compliance; maintain plant records and prints for the facility along with the outage work processes.
 
The Georgia-Pacific facility in Cumberland City, TN produces a variety of gypsum wallboard products. A Day In The Life Typically Includes:


  • Interacts with key operations personnel both inside and outside the plant working as part of a team to exceed safety, production, quality, and project goals

  • Performing root cause and gap analysis

  • Manages and develops relationships with project-equipment supplier(s) and contractor(s)

  • Tenaciously effective problem-solver applying data-based critical thinking to make decisions

  • Engaged team player; able to build good working relationships

  • Use of Microsoft Office suite as well as effective oral and communication skills

  • The ability to collaborate and indirectly influence skills


 

What You Will Need:

Basic Qualifications:

 


  • A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical, Chemical or Materials Engineering, or a related engineering discipline

  • A minimum of three (3) years of industrial operations and/or manufacturing experience

  • A minimum of two (2) years of plant engineering, manufacturing engineering, and/or process engineering experience

  • Must have experience with Root Cause Analysis, Gap identification and analysis, and project or program planning and execution

  • Must be able and willing to work in an industrial manufacturing plant environment (with or without reasonable accommodations), including extended periods of time in noisy, dusty, non-air conditioned or unheated areas.

  • Must be able and willing to work safely, including wearing and using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • Able to travel approximately 10% - 20% for training, to provide technical assistance to other plants, and to support division-wide projects and initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Six Sigma certification

  • Strong Statistical Process Controls (SPC) skills

  • Process mapping and optimization skills

  • Experience leading improvement teams

  • Proficiency with process control equipment (e.g. Aspen Watch or similar)
