Job Summary: Lead and work with teams of engineers through the product development lifecycle to ensure client needs are met and projects are executed within schedule and budget constraints. Interface with clients and SwRI engineering staff to lead embedded software and hardware development teams involved in developing requirements, designing, analyzing, implementing, testing, and documenting embedded software and hardware applications for military customers. Perform hardware design, development, prototyping, integration, and testing against customer requirements. Prepare, present, and deliver engineering documentation such as requirements documents, design descriptions, major design reviews, test plans, test reports and user documents. Support technical proposal writing and business development and influence technical program direction. Plan, organize, lead, and coordinate the activities of project team. Projects emphasize system, hardware and software development. Application areas include Avionics modification and sustainment programs to include associated avionics, support equipment, and simulators. Write final reports, prepare and present papers as appropriate, conduct project and promotional visits to existing and potential customer sites, and provide technical support to proposal development and whitepapers. Education/Experience: Requires a BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Systems Engineering with 10-15 years of experience. Must have at least a 3.0 GPA. Must possess solid design skills associated with electronics hardware, FPGA and Embedded Processor, with experience in verification and validation of designs. Experience in the development of system requirement flow down to subsystem and components is required. Requires 5 years of experience as a lead engineer or equivalent. Must be able to develop and analyze requirements, design high-level technical approaches and lead engineering teams to deliver effective embedded solutions. Must have experience with the complete solution development work flow from system definition to requirements development, systems engineering, preliminary design, detailed design, implementation, test, rework, fielding and support. Direct interaction with clients requires strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Must be knowledgeable of analog electronics, digital electronics, firmware, and software. Must have experience delivering solutions for U.S. government sponsored contracts. Requires occasional travel to San Antonio. A valid/clear driver's license is required.
