Job Description:

The Area Reefer Logistics Development is the lead sales person within a named region(s) responsible for to manage and coordinate the regional product or trade development interests.

Your Role

The position is to be assigned a set number of area accounts as defined by the Senior Management. These are to be accounts of strategic importance to overall development of the trade or product and specific to the region(s). All other general outside sales activity is to be in support of sales development by the general outside sales team together with Director Business Development.

Your Responsibilities

Responsible for the sale of the organization's products in assigned Area(s) (Southeast and Southwest). Responsible for ensuring the growth of the company by maximizing existing business and through the development of new business via sales, product marketing and customer support strategies. Trains, guides, mentors and motivates sales personnel. Implements, and when needed, renders sales, and service support functions for targeted markets and programs. Is the front line, field sales resource to mentor manage and coach the consultative "platform" selling methodology.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Establish sales strategies, target lists, volume goals, etc. for all local Areas within the assigned US Areas.
  • Communicate, align, and ensure execution of said strategies together with local and area sales resources plus nominated overseas counterparts.
  • Make recommendations of strategic nature to ensure sustained growth of Kuehne + Nagel's market share in Reefer Logistics.
  • Maintain and pursue number of own (mix of existing and target) accounts.
  • Visit all area offices on a regular basis for joint sales calls with local staff.
  • Report to the area management on a monthly basis on the overall progress of the program including volume developments against set targets.
  • Assist department manager in regular basis, ensure quality service is provided to customer base, and provide timely and consistent quotations when requested.
  • Maintain lines of communication with Global Reefer Network and International Operations contacts and local customers.
  • Customer Service: when necessary negotiate cost effective rates with service providers to ensure maximum profitability; maintain customer profiles including contacts, special requirements, rates, fees, preferred routing/services, etc.
  • Monitors and evaluates the activities and offerings of the competition.
  • Compliance with Quality, Safety, Health, Environment (QSHE) procedures, working instructions and guidelines (ISO 9001).
  • 60-70 % Domestic (assigned Area(s)), and possibly international travel required.
  • Development of supply cold chain solutions for the assigned Area(s) based reefer customers.
  • Operational support within assigned Area(s) competence center, establishing supply cold chain solutions.
  • Key account management support for major and potential assigned Area(s) reefer clients. o Addressing of service issues.
  • Market intelligence, market search.
  • Office location - flexible (within the United States)
  • Usage of CoreLog CRM is required. All customer opportunity reporting must be visible in CoreLog.
