The Junior Software Engineer will support our office in Alexandria, VA. This is an entry-level to junior position in DoD cloud computing/DevSecOps that offers outstanding opportunities for learning and career advancement. Ideal candidates will have strong technical aptitude, hands on programming capability, curiosity, and desire to build cool innovative tools while working as part of an Agile Scrum team. This position involves work in a mixed Windows/Linux/AWS Cloud environment supporting DoD Level 5/Level 2 cloud architectures.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, convert, and migrate applications from legacy platforms using a variety of programming languages.
    Assist in redesign and architecture of AWS optimized cloud systems, including migrating code bases and refactoring, automation and CI/CD implementation.
    Collaborate to design, code, test, and validate applications following CMMI Level 3 practices
    Support the team with all other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or combination of coursework and work experience in tech related field.
  • Ability to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance.
  • Excellent problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work on an Agile Scrum team using CMMI Level 3 practices.
  • Solid HTML, CSS, and JavaScript skills with 4 or 3GL programming experience and demonstrated programming skills in a current scripting language- (for example) Angular, Python, Perl, Ruby, Go, JQuery, Node.JS.
  • Working knowledge of Linux and facility with command line.
  • Math, statistics, or analystics a strong plus.
  • Familiarity with modern DevOps principles, methods, and tools a plus.
  • Understanding of modern JavaScript applications and webpages, Single Page Web applications, Micro-service, and Containerization are all pluses.
